Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Looks like we have an interesting puzzle this time. What authors can you think of that go by two initials and a last name? We can make a little list and see which ones fit once we get some letters.

message 52: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments C D Baker
J D Salinger

message 53: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Did MaryLu Tyndall sometimes go by M L Tyndall?

message 54: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments I am my phone so cannot edit. Should be CD Baker.

I thought I'd post a little update. I had an extremely busy weekend. On Saturday, I went shopping with my mom, and on Sunday we celebrated my great-grandmother's 96th birthday.

I have started reading They're Rugby Boys, Don't You Know?. I wanted to get more reading done, but it was a great weekend nonetheless. How was everyone else's weekend?

message 56: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Hi Grace! What a blessing to celebrate your mom's 96th birthday!!! I had a church conference on Saturday. The weekends are over so quickly.

message 57: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Made some progress on copyediting, writing, and reading. Totally agree on the over-too-quickly thing. :)

More copyediting this week and next, but I am making time to read for fun too.

Congrats on your great-grandmother being 96! That is so cool.

message 58: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments The Game's Afoot just solved their second puzzle already!

How's everyone coming along on their current books? I made some pretty good progress on A Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin. Will be reading a few more chapters in just a few minutes. Emma has been a slower read for me, but then, I have had to focus on copyediting a lot lately.

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished and posted Nessie Out of Water. Guys, totally recommend! If you message the author she will email you a review copy. Hopefully there's an S or two in our puzzle! There are so many 8 letter words that start with N :/

Thanks for the recommendation, Grace J. Will have to check out that title.

I know! I was trying to narrow that word down, but realized there was no way without having at least one more letter. Maybe we'll get something good with your letter. :)

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

8 letter word starting with n, that doesn't contain a, s, t, or r? That should narrow it down...

message 62: by [deleted user] (new)

Solved! Also I requested #20, I hope that's good with everyone.

message 63: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Awesome! Thanks Grace.

message 64: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Great job, Grace J! I never would have guessed that title. Any number is cool with me.

message 65: by Emily (new)

Emily | 234 comments Good job on solving the puzzles!

Darn, I feel behind. I haven't kept up so much with the messages or posted any reviews yet. I don't think I finished any books last week, but this week I'm almost through books 4 and 5. I don't usually read quite so much, except when I have deadlines like I do now.

I'm also feeling behind right now, because I have an editing deadline looming (Feb 18). We'll get caught up soon, Emily!

message 67: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Do you think it might be "A Time to Love" or "A Time to Kill" or something like that? Anyone know of one of those titles with two authors?

message 68: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments A Time To ??? sounds right.

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

Also could be A Tale of?

message 70: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Oh, good idea, Grace J! Guess we still need a letter or two to figure out this puzzle.

message 71: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I think I found the book, so I put in a guess.

message 72: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments It was the correct one, so I asked for #39. Great job, Cover Bug Bookworms!

message 73: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Way to go Andrea!!

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow! Awesome job ladies!

message 75: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Thanks! I decided to look up "A Time to" over on Lifeway's site rather than GR, because only Christian stuff would show up and there might not be 100 pages to sift through. Plus, I couldn't sleep last night. Finally fell asleep after 4:00 a.m. Got quality sleep, but I was hoping for quantity as well.

message 76: by Emily (new)

Emily | 234 comments Good job. All I could think of was Nadine Brandes' books - A Time to Die, A Time to Speak, A Time to Rise - but I knew it wouldn't work because of the author and spacing.

message 77: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I even checked the Scripture for the "a time to" verses. Nothing in my version matched the _ e _ _ part, so I was confused as to what it could be, because I figured the authors had chosen a title to go with those verses. Maybe they used a different version or something. But I was so glad when I thought to check Lifeway's selection on their website. Much quicker to search there than on GR.

I like the way you were thinking it through, Emily!

message 78: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments We are doing well, y'all. Only six points behind The Game's Afoot. That's only six more books OR one more book and a solved puzzle. Sweet!

Last week of my editing deadline, so I may not be around much until after Saturday. But I'm hoping to make up some reading time next week. Happy reading this week, Cover Bug Bookworms!

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah! Go team! I have so much school this week, but I will try to read at least a book or two over the course of the next few evenings.

If anyone wanted to, you could go on my "to read kindle" board and make suggestions on what to read next! I'm having some trouble finding anything that chatches my attention!

I really enjoyed Guide Me Home by Kim Vogel Sawyer . Hope school goes well for you this week!

message 81: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Hi Grace! I liked the following:

At Bluebonnet Lake (Texas Crossroads, #1) by Amanda Cabot The Icecutter's Daughter (Land of Shining Water, #1) by Tracie Peterson A Rush of Wings (Spencer Family #1) by Kristen Heitzmann

message 82: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you Andrea! I recently got a job at a theme park so I am trying to finish school before the craziness of that kicks in!

message 83: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Congrats on the job! About getting school done: You can do it!

@Staci, I am glad to hear The Icecutter's Daughter was good. I am looking forward to reading that one sometime.

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you for the recommendations as well Staci!

I loved both Rescuing Finley (Forever Home #1) by Dan Walsh and Dreamspell (Beyond Time, #1) by Tamara Leigh and highly recommend them. :)

message 86: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you Megan!

I took my driver's test today...and passed! Now I can drive to the library anytime I want! ;) Now I'm going settle down with a cup of coffee to finish The Maze Runner and hopefully even start The Scorch Trials.

message 87: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Congratulations Grace!!!

message 88: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Great job, Grace J!

message 89: by Emily (new)

Emily | 234 comments Grace J, tell me what you think of those books when you finish. I read The Maze Runner last year but never finished The Scorch Trials.

message 90: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Great job, girls! I hope there are lots of Es and Ss in our puzzle.

message 91: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Graze Z, you get a bonus letter! Nice job!

message 92: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Gals, does that last name look like "James" to you? If so, do any of you know of a Christian fiction author with the last name of James?

message 93: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I think I found it, but we'll see.

message 94: by [deleted user] (new)

Welp, I'm terribly sorry y'all! I didn't get nearly as much reading as I had hoped yesterday evening!

Andrea, your guess seems like it should be correct! *crosses fingers*

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

Emily, here's my review for The Maze Runner: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

message 96: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Y'all, we've got some catch-up work to do. We've got 46 points, while the other team has 58. Keep up the great work on blazing through books. That gets us 1-2 points per, and when we finish a puzzle, we get 5 points. We can totally do this!

What is everyone working on this weekend?

I'm on the last three (including today) days of an editing deadline, so busy, busy weekend for me, but I've made some significant progress on one of my leisure books in the last couple of days. I'm planning to binge read next week to make up some ground on my tbr list for this month, which will also help our game along too as all of those books are over 100 pages, I think.

Happy reading, Cover Bug Bookworms!

message 97: by Emily (new)

Emily | 234 comments Oh man. I have one or two reviews I need to post. But Im going to be super busy this weekend with friends and homework so I doubt I'll get any reading done. Sorry.

message 98: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments No worries. Enjoy your time with your friends, and I hope the homework goes well! We'll dig in hard next week.

Are those one or two reviews that will work for our game? Those would be great to plug in for our new puzzle.

message 99: by [deleted user] (new)

I have an extremely busy weekend ahead of me! I'm celebrating my 17th birthday with some friends.

I will try to read The Scorch Trials Saturday evening and Sunday. We can totally get caught up!

message 100: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Happy birthday! Have a blast this weekend, for sure.

No doubt. We've got this! (Especially once this crazy-busy/crazy-fun [depending on which person's schedule we're talking about] is over.)
