Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Teresa in Ohio wrote: "hi I am excited to be here : ) what do I do next ?"

Hi Teresa! There isn't much to it.

Basically all you need to do is make a comment here telling us the books you have read from April 1st on and what cards they work for. You can see all of the card rules here.
You also need to have an UNO shelf with any books you've read in April on it. If you look at my profile you'll see my two for this and last year

Here is my comment for April so you can see an example of what we're doing. I have the books I plan to read and the the books I have finished with the date I finished them.

Any books started after April 15th can also work for our mini-challenge. If you scroll down from my comment, you'll see all of the mini-challenge information on the same page.

Since we only have a week left, you just need to read, read, read :D let me know if you have any questions

Hi I started my books, will be back later. I have 10 more to add, I get all my books from the library, so I have to look up some of the info for them. I still have to look at the mini challenge.

Can you check to make sure I entered them right?

I also how do the wild cards work.

I think I made my uno shelf if you can check that too please?

thank you for having me. When this challenge ends is there a new one?

Your cards look good :D the only thing is please add the date you finished reading them. It just makes entering them into the spreadsheet easier.

The wild cards work for any book, so you don't need to worry about those.

The UNO shelf looks fine, although you seem to have two. Make sure all your books are on one (either one will work fine).

April 30th is the last day for the UNO challenge, so everything will end then and unfortunately UNO won't start again until next year.

I second what Ashlee says: look at the mini-challenge. Don't worry about the cards so much as that's something Kate and I can figure out as long as we have enough books read. I'm going to update the spreadsheet tomorrow and give you guys an update.

For the mini-challenge we are trying to hit tasks for eggs we can completely finish. The most easy ones being the spell-it-out and word search ones

The spell-it-out ones are easy. The letter just has to fit the title, author, character, or main location of the book. You can either put your mini-challenge in a separate comment like Ashlee did or look at Kate's comment (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) where she has everything together. She marks her books with any challenge task that will work, which is helpful if we need to move things around.

Also, I saw on your profile - Criminal Minds is one of my favorite shows too :D

I live in Japan so I unfortunately have a different version of Netflix :( Sometimes I buy shows on Amazon, but they always start out SO expensive. I`m waiting for Criminal Minds to drop from $40 to $20 for the season. I was really bummed last season when Morgan left ;_;

Didn't know you were in Japan and how different netflix is.

My son has it for his shows some of them are magna???? but I still rely on cable even though the dvr is 90% full

I was upset to see Morgan leave but at least it was done right and door is open for him to come back.. Shermar Moore had a movie come out called bounce back ( https://www.google.com/#q=shemar+moor...) it didnt do well at all so maybe he will come back

Oh your son likes anime? Cool :D (manga is the comics, anime the cartoons). Even when I was in America I was moving away from cable. My parents and I generally watch the same shows (Criminal Minds being one of the few we don`t share) and they tend to buy the season passes on Amazon.

I`m not sure Morgan will come back. The characters were acting like he was dead after he quit...which I thought was weird. I heard Emily is back though and I really liked her :D I haven`t even heard of this movie... :(

For UNO - book:NYPD Red|14781501] and The Luxe won`t work for the mini-challenge because you started them before April 15th. I`ve got your other books on my list though :D

When you finish any more books just add them to your original book comment please :) It makes it easier for me when I`m doing the spreadsheet to only go to one comment for each person.

You`ve already been A TON of help Teresa. With your additional books it looks like we`ll actually be able to finish our cards if everyone keeps at it. Only one week left!

(and for your vodka and tomato juice question - that`s what`s in a Bloody Mary. Although I agree, it sounds gross)

message 280: by Caroline (last edited Apr 23, 2017 08:05PM) (new)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Okay guys here is an update going into our last week of UNO!

We only have 27 cards left, so if every one keeps doing their best, we should make it. A big welcome to Teresa, a last minute replacement for Jess, who has already been a big help.

I am about to post a different version of our mini-challenge. The original one is where I mainly focused on finishing the spell-it-out ones. This second version I am about to post is a ``Plan B`` mainly so I can just see it all written out and can compare the two plans more easily. I want to see which one gets us more finished eggs

Plan A is currently still the more likely option, so please keep it in mind. Right now we need another A and S to finish off PYSANKA

The A in G. A. McKevett unfortunately won't work. It has to be the first letter of the first or last name.

XD okay that makes a lot more sense. I'm honestly not sure if I need the sentence or not. The mods havent said anything about it. A lot of this game is "honor system" based

I don't think this group does anything else this big during the year. They usually have some smaller challenges going on though and I know there are lots of other groups doing big games

Nope - has to be physical chocolate, not something chocolate flavored (which I think is a bit silly, but whatever).

Also, please make sure you have the UNO cards written out for your books as well as the mini-challenge tasks.

UNO ends in aprox. 4 hours. We are completely done with our UNO cards and it looks like we are going to finish 13 of the 24 "eggs" for the mini-challenge!

I'll be finishing the mini-challenge tomorrow morning and will update you guys then. In the meantime the above comment is the current version of the challenge being used in our
spreadsheet. If you have any information for unused tasks please let me know!

The only thing I am specifically looking for is does anyone have a book with a rabbit on the cover? Please check other cover editions. If we have that we can finish the tasks for Team Ron Weasley. We're already using The Year of the Hare for another task

Any covers with a garden???
