Eldarwen wrote: "LaurLa, with the amount you read, you could also just post as you go and we'll slot them in where they fit best."This is true but I'll try to order them as we need them, or as much as I can based on other challenges too.
Eldarwen wrote: "Annalisa, I checked with Karen and unfortunately her magic tools couldn't give a clear answer either, so since we cannot verify the word count, Spice & Wolf, Vol. 2 can unfortunately..."That's fine. It will still be there when this is over.
Ginger wrote: "I can read Illuminae for card 5. I should get it in next week :)"I just read Illuminae earlier this month. It was not what I expected at all, but in a good way.

I just recently read this as well, I found it intriguing and interesting as well. You are probably correct that much was lost in translation. I had no idea it was being made into a movie....

Good to know! We might slot it into reverse then instead.
Annika wrote: "How many of you are counting down the hours 'til we get to start? :)"Me and I'm nervous!
You'll be fine, Chris! :-)And yesss, absolutely counting down the hours! But also trying desperately to finish my two current reads so I can start completely fresh on Wednesday ;-) Not quite sure if I'll manage with the second book but the first one I'll finish tonight for sure.

Lots of world building in that first one, be warned hehe. But it's awesome.

Great! It has a lovely cover :-)
And because it's so lovely, I'm first going to finish my current read haha. I've got ~90 pages left. I'll decide on my first book tonight. I might just curl up in bed with a doorstop and then choose something smaller to take to work with me tomorrow. The doorstop I have in mind is
with a whooping 912 pages. But I had a peek into it the other day when I put it on my pile beside my bed, and the writing isn't tiny, so that's good.
912 pages... wow. I get tired just thinking about it - let alone reading it ;)I'm starting with
and
.Some suspense and some ugly crying (I fear)...
Not heard of either one of those. The second one does sound like it could be an ugly cry though, yes ;-)I know, 912 pages sounds like a LOT, but I've had that series sitting on my shelf for so long and lately it's really been looking at me with pitiful eyes, begging me to read it. I'm looking forward to finally picking it up, too. So I think the size won't matter too much in this case. Besides, I have aaaaaaall of February to finish it ;-)

Yeah, I've read a couple of her other books -
, and I loved it, but it was brutal, and she warned me to have tissues while reading this one, so I guess I need to stock up.Yeah - when books beg you to read them you usually need to listen. Otherwise you'll never have quiet at home ;)
Lol, wow Lauri. That's quite a selection! :)
Lol, not bad, Lauri! That's quite the selection! And lots of different genres, too. At least that should make it easy not mixing up the stories and characters. Do you ever have trouble with that if you're reading so many books at the same time? Just out of curiosity.
Nope. Somehow it all makes sense in my twisted mind. Sometimes I put a book down for months and then pick right up again right where I left off. I usually have 2 or 3 main books & the rest are "back burner" books. On the weekends, I usually start a whole bunch on a whim just because. I just met another person like me! Oddly she works at the library. Earlier this week I met my soul sister on GR! She PMed me because she read about my strange reading habits on my profile. I'm feeling a great deal less freakish now! :)
Haha, that's always good!! Now there's two of you..... maybe the rest of us should start making preparations for when you try to take over the world ;-)It usually all makes sense in my head as well. I have a few books on my TBR which I haven't touched in months, and I had one I recently finished where I'd stopped 3 years ago. When I picked it back up, I still knew where I was and continued right on until the end as if no time had passed.
I just don't start a million books at the same time, though having 2 on the go, used to be the norm. Not quite so much anymore at the moment as I started cutting back a bit to read more for my pleasure again rather than for challenge deadlines.

If only I could use my "super power" for good instead of evil... OR at least make money off it somehow!
Going to go read now and then to bed. Almost midnight & there's (ugh!) work tomorrow...
Goodnight teammies!!
This morning I started the Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick audio book. I think I should be able to finish it by the end of the month. Depends on how much driving I do.Also, started reading Red Rising by Pierce Brown.
I'll update as I finish reading. :)
Sounds good, Annalisa!I don't think I'd be able to listen to a book while driving. I need to have music in my car, preferably loud. I'm one of those people you'd catch when they're singing wholeheartedly or doing dramatic gestures ;-)
Eldarwen wrote: "Christine? Are you still with us?*pokes delicately*
You've been quiet ;-)"
I'm here! :)
I like music too when driving. I also love singing, loud. My car is my own little world, kind of like the shower. However when I have longer drives during the month, I like to have something to contemplate while I drive. Anna Kendrick is funny, so I'm hoping I don't miss the music to much.

Ok good :-) What are you starting the challenge off with?
Annalisa wrote: "I like music too when driving. I also love singing, loud. My car is my own little world, kind of like the shower. However when I have longer drives during the month, I like to have something to con..."Haha, yes on the car and shower thing ;-)
For longer drives, it might indeed be nice to have a little something else. And there's always the possibility of switching between the two if you need a little variation.
Eldarwen wrote: "Haha, yes on the car and shower thing ;-)"Lol, this just proves I should be awake while on GR, because those mental images - they didn't make a whole lot of sense ;)

I started and finished Gods in Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson. The majority of the story is set in Possett, Alabama. That's good for a skip, right?

Christine, did you like it? I had never heard of her until I won The Opposite of Everyone in a giveaway last year. I've been wanting to read that one ever since...
Lol that car in the shower is cool :-) Reminds me a little of the cards in the movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"
Lauri, I really enjoyed Gods in Alabama. It was an easy, unpredictable read. I had never heard of the author before, but now I want to read more books by her.
I was planning on doing some grocery shopping tonight but I may just forego that in favour of flopping onto the couch to read. I'm fully immersed in the Guild Hunter world at the moment and I don't really want to come out of it, so that is probably my plan for the weekend - and cleaning my place, but that's just a side thing hehe.Currently reading
after just finishing the previous book yesterday (started in January).
