Lauri (otwlauri) | 935 comments I need to read All the Bright Places this week for another challenge, so I will definitely finish by Saturday. It can fit for 1 - standalone / 4 - character Finch / 7 - character Violet / 9 - author Niven.... And of course the ever popular reverse if any of you lovely people have read it before!

Also reading Auntie Mayhem for the same challenge. It can fit for 9- 9th in series / 6- character Serena...

Yes, I know we can't start reading till Wednesday. :)

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven Auntie Mayhem (Bed-and-Breakfast Mysteries, #9) by Mary Daheim

This is true but I'll try to order them as we need them, or as much as I can based on other challenges too.

I just read Illuminae earlier this month. It was not what I expected at all, but in a good way.

I just recently read this as well, I found it intriguing and interesting as well. You are probably correct that much was lost in translation. I had no idea it was being made into a movie....

Good to know! We might slot it into reverse then instead.

Annika | 1412 comments Wohoo!! Finally! :D

message 224: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments And because it's so lovely, I'm first going to finish my current read haha. I've got ~90 pages left. I'll decide on my first book tonight. I might just curl up in bed with a doorstop and then choose something smaller to take to work with me tomorrow.

The doorstop I have in mind is The Dragonbone Chair (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, #1) by Tad Williams with a whooping 912 pages. But I had a peek into it the other day when I put it on my pile beside my bed, and the writing isn't tiny, so that's good.

message 225: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments 912 pages... wow. I get tired just thinking about it - let alone reading it ;)

I'm starting with Half Moon Chambers by Harper Fox and The Story of Us by D. Nichole King .
Some suspense and some ugly crying (I fear)...

message 226: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Not heard of either one of those. The second one does sound like it could be an ugly cry though, yes ;-)

I know, 912 pages sounds like a LOT, but I've had that series sitting on my shelf for so long and lately it's really been looking at me with pitiful eyes, begging me to read it. I'm looking forward to finally picking it up, too. So I think the size won't matter too much in this case. Besides, I have aaaaaaall of February to finish it ;-)

Yeah, I've read a couple of her other books - Love Always, Kate (Love Always, #1) by D. Nichole King , and I loved it, but it was brutal, and she warned me to have tissues while reading this one, so I guess I need to stock up.

Yeah - when books beg you to read them you usually need to listen. Otherwise you'll never have quiet at home ;)

Lol, wow Lauri. That's quite a selection! :)

message 229: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Lol, not bad, Lauri!
That's quite the selection! And lots of different genres, too. At least that should make it easy not mixing up the stories and characters. Do you ever have trouble with that if you're reading so many books at the same time? Just out of curiosity.

message 230: by Lauri (new)

Lauri (otwlauri) | 935 comments Nope. Somehow it all makes sense in my twisted mind. Sometimes I put a book down for months and then pick right up again right where I left off. I usually have 2 or 3 main books & the rest are "back burner" books. On the weekends, I usually start a whole bunch on a whim just because. I just met another person like me! Oddly she works at the library. Earlier this week I met my soul sister on GR! She PMed me because she read about my strange reading habits on my profile. I'm feeling a great deal less freakish now! :)

message 231: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Haha, that's always good!! Now there's two of you..... maybe the rest of us should start making preparations for when you try to take over the world ;-)

It usually all makes sense in my head as well. I have a few books on my TBR which I haven't touched in months, and I had one I recently finished where I'd stopped 3 years ago. When I picked it back up, I still knew where I was and continued right on until the end as if no time had passed.

I just don't start a million books at the same time, though having 2 on the go, used to be the norm. Not quite so much anymore at the moment as I started cutting back a bit to read more for my pleasure again rather than for challenge deadlines.

If only I could use my "super power" for good instead of evil... OR at least make money off it somehow!

Going to go read now and then to bed. Almost midnight & there's (ugh!) work tomorrow...

Goodnight teammies!!

message 234: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1659 comments This morning I started the Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick audio book. I think I should be able to finish it by the end of the month. Depends on how much driving I do.

Also, started reading Red Rising by Pierce Brown.

I'll update as I finish reading. :)

message 235: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Sounds good, Annalisa!
I don't think I'd be able to listen to a book while driving. I need to have music in my car, preferably loud. I'm one of those people you'd catch when they're singing wholeheartedly or doing dramatic gestures ;-)

message 237: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1659 comments I like music too when driving. I also love singing, loud. My car is my own little world, kind of like the shower. However when I have longer drives during the month, I like to have something to contemplate while I drive. Anna Kendrick is funny, so I'm hoping I don't miss the music to much.

Haha, yes on the car and shower thing ;-)
For longer drives, it might indeed be nice to have a little something else. And there's always the possibility of switching between the two if you need a little variation.

I started and finished Gods in Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson. The majority of the story is set in Possett, Alabama. That's good for a skip, right?

Christine, did you like it? I had never heard of her until I won The Opposite of Everyone in a giveaway last year. I've been wanting to read that one ever since...

Christine | 64 comments Lauri, I really enjoyed Gods in Alabama. It was an easy, unpredictable read. I had never heard of the author before, but now I want to read more books by her.

Annika | 1412 comments How are you guys doing, are you enjoying your books? :)

message 248: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I was planning on doing some grocery shopping tonight but I may just forego that in favour of flopping onto the couch to read. I'm fully immersed in the Guild Hunter world at the moment and I don't really want to come out of it, so that is probably my plan for the weekend - and cleaning my place, but that's just a side thing hehe.

Currently reading Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter, #6) by Nalini Singh after just finishing the previous book yesterday (started in January).
