First Strike-June Series Read

I read both this and Skin Deep last month before it was decided that these two novellas were going to be this month's read. I wasn't that impressed with this one though. I know from reading the FB page and the beginning of this book that it is meant to be a prequel to Striking Distance, but both the characters weren't that appealing to me. I also was left wondering (view spoiler). Will have to see how this turns out in Striking Distance.

I am starting
right now on audio.I generally despise novellas and short stories as they are never long enough for real depth. Coupled with your warning, I won't hold my breath here :D

Skin Deep was actually pretty good, and I really enjoyed revisiting Megan. First Strike just didn't grab me, and I've been hesitating on reading Striking Distance because of it.
I really liked First Strike but I've been procrastinating on reading Striking Distance because it has two tropes in it that I really dislike.

I should be able to do 30 pages. Thanks for the info!

I can do that. I can. I can. I can.
I can do that. I can. I can. I can.
Penni wrote: "Got any thoughts on that? I have about 700 series on my TBR"PM me some choices. I would need to consult my computer as I am on hubby's ipad.
I have a list of Series to finish list on the computer
My thoughts on the topic are more questions than anything else, but they may help direct us more toward what we might want to pick.1. Do we want to pick a 5 book or less series to round out the year, or shall we pick a series that is longer that will take us into 2015 to finish? I'm slightly anal/OCD enough that I'd vote for the 5 book or less option.
2. Do we want to stick with a romantic suspense series or branch out and do a different genre of romance novels? Personally, I could go either way, but I've enjoyed this series read enough that I'd want to do another one with the group.
I've got some series I can suggest, if desired.
I'm not hard up on the number in the series - although really long series do scare me somewhat :-)
I ca go RS or some other genre altogether. I am very much PNR based, do some HR, a fair amount CR/ER. I have such a huge TBR that I find it difficult to limit more than I find it difficult to find something I want to read. I'm pretty open.

1) I don't mind a series going longer than 2015 but not long like In Death by Nora aroberts.2) whatever genre, it must have love.
Some suggestions:
by Pamela Clare
by Paulina Simons
by Lynsay Sands
by Jenn Bennett
by Margaret Mallory
by Kristen Ashley
by Julie James
by Lori Foster
I'm leaning toward the Dream Man series or Julie James' FBI series, personally. I've read the first book in Julie James series already, but I could jump in after that one. I've been wanting to read the Dream Man series though and own a couple of them!
Of those - I would go for Arcadia Bell, Dream Man, or Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor.
In addition I'd really like these also

..."I'd love to throw Scanguards in to the pot as well! I've read the first one, but have been meaning to get back to that series for so long now, I'd re-read it! If we get three or four series that we're all agreeing on, can we run a poll to see what we wind up reading?
Of course, my suggestion for the immediate future would be that we read the Dream Man books to take us to November, take December off for Christmas then start Scanguards in January, since that should take us most of the year to read, not to mention that she might have more out by then. And I know there is at least one Novella, part of the 1001 Dark Nights series, that also ties into the Scanguards universe: Silent Bite: A Scanguards Wedding (1001 Dark Nights). Sorry, book geek here...I don't want to be pushy, it was just an idea I came up with.
It seems like the three of us (Ezi, Penni, and I) have been the only ones consistently discussing these books, so maybe we should just do an executive decision for what we read.
I agree Trea. I have Tina Folsom book 1, Julie James, as well as The Come Away with me. I can get dream man on audio too because I saw it at audible.I'm game with your suggestion Trea. And Leslie is the only other person I can think of who did participate with us so I'll let her know

Sounds good to me, glad I was able to help with a good suggestion!
First time I've been on a real computer in a week. Thanks, Ezi for letting me know about this. What was decided to read? Or is it still up in the air?
By the way, for those who read Pamela Clare, she recently underwent a double mastectectomy. It's on her FB page about why and info on a fund raiser for her.

See Trea's post 22.
But the plan is to read Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley starting in August, continue the series into November.
Take December off
January--Begin the Scanguard Vampires with Samson's Lovely Mortal continuing a book a month

Ohhh that is awful. I'll have to check it out.

She's written a couple of blog posts about her experiences in this ordeal, and they've both been extremely moving. I would definitely check them out!

i don't have facebook so please share whatever you learn with us here. i have really enjoyed her series with you all, and I wish her good health.
Ezinwanyi~still loves Spartacus wrote: "i don't have facebook so please share whatever you learn with us here. i have really enjoyed her series with you all, and I wish her good health."Pamela had surgery on June 5th. It was late stage 1 breast cancer, which hadn't gotten to the lymph nodes yet, though they did find a couple of cells that suggested that it could have started to. Her doctors believe that they got it all, thankfully, and she's home recuperating. Her drains are really bothering her, but she's been able to resume some normal activities.
Here's the two blog posts I mentioned in my earlier post. She can tell it better than I can anyway.

Just a weekend…
Laura Nilsson knows what she wants: a successful career as a broadcast journalist—and a little fun between the sheets now and again. What she doesn’t want is marriage or kids. When a ripped and sexy stranger intervenes to stop a couple of drunks from harassing her in a hotel bar in Dubai City, all she can think about is spending the rest of the weekend with him—in her bed. There’s just one little problem. Unmarried sex is illegal in Dubai.
… of no-strings sex …
Navy SEAL Javier “Cobra” Corbray is on his way home from a rough deployment in Afghanistan when he finds himself having dinner with “the Baghdad Babe.” What she wants from him—sex with no strings—could land them both in prison. Still, he’s more than happy to oblige her. She’s confident and sexually assertive, and he’s secure enough to lie back and let her make the first strike. But, as she’s about to find out, he’s more than her match.
… or the beginning of something more?
Yet, neither Laura nor Javier has any idea what lies ahead—or how this weekend of mind-blowing sex will impact their emotions. Will they act on their new-found feelings in time, or will they let something special slip away… perhaps forever?
Warning: This story ends with a cliffhanger.
