I remember the idea of this book more than I remember anything else. When I think back, I couldn't have been more than 10 or 11, so it was between 8 and 9 years ago, ten at most, but this book must have been a relatively new release at the time. I figure this, because my class at the time were taken to meet the author for a reading and chat. Written by a British author, Scottish maybe, since it was a reading at my tiny Scottish school but I can't be sure of that. What I remember is the protagonist was a boy, I think, but I'm not 100%. But they either moved or went to visit a haunted house with a very specific, very creepy 'room'. Room was definitely in the title. I am more than positive about this. It was an old house, perhaps Victorian? You know, the usual for haunted houses. I remember being enthralled by the reading at the time. Very creepy, unsettling feel. It must have been something of a children's book, young adult, perhaps. It's a book I've never been able to find, and I'd like to, if it's possible. I know this isn't a lot of information to go by... but I can only hope that it's enough!

This is a long shot. It sounds similar, but I have not read the book in a while and it doesn't have "room" in the title. The Trespassers
Chanel, maybe your book will be on one of these lists?https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8...

Could the story you're thinking of be "The Room In the Tower", by E.F. Benson? The story is about a young man who has a recurring dream about visiting this big house, where he is told he will be given "the room in the tower", which fills him with dread.
Years later, a friend invites him to come stay at his house, and when he arrives, he discovers it's the house from his dream, and then he discovers that he will be staying in the room in the tower.
(I won't give any more spoilers than that.)
It's a brilliant, scary story. It wasn't written specifically for children or young adults, but it's suitable for all ages.
A few guesses:
- Room 13 by T.S. Rue?
- The Twisted Room by Janet Patton Smith?
- The Ghost in Room 11 by Betty Ren Wright?
- Room 13 by T.S. Rue?
- The Twisted Room by Janet Patton Smith?
- The Ghost in Room 11 by Betty Ren Wright?
Room 13 by Robert Swindells?(a different 'Room 13' to the one mentioned above ) Definitely a British author and a book that is often read in schools. The main character is a girl, but it is about a creepy hotel.
