This was an okay story, I'm not really sure what happened though.

* Jack throws his mobile phone in the river because some boys were making fun of how old it was.
* It starts raining and he takes shelter in an old cottage by the river.
* He hears noises and becomes a bit spooked.
* He leaves the cottage and see his next-door neighbour Lulu, and they go back into the cottage together.
* They discover a girl locked in a basement, with a skeleton in a rocking chair over the trapdoor.
* They go rescue the girl a second time when a man called Prince takes her and locks her in his club.
* They go back to the house later to try and save the girl's sister who was also taken by Prince.
* There's an odd moment when Jack thinks a white apparition comes out of the bones, but he doesn't know what it is, so he shrugs it off.

I understand this is a short YA novel. But a lot more could have been done with the premise and execution. Some sections were belaboured and drawn out, other important aspects skimmed over.

Not a bad book if your looking for a quick read.
