I don't remember a whole lot about this. I checked it out from the library and read it sometime before 2007. It would've been YA, I remember it had to do with a girl in Venice (I think she either just moved there or was there for an extended vacation.) I believe the society had something to do with roses and there were most likely Venetian masks involved. There was a romance involved in the plot (possibly a forbidden romance). And I'm pretty sure there was something about graffiti on the walls at some point and a dance club, also I think a gun appeared at some point. That's about all I remember, other than I really liked it. I've tried googling different combinations and have come up will nothing I really hope someone recognizes the very vague details I remember.

I looked at that one but I don't think it had time travel and I believe it was set in modern Venice (of the time of publication). Thank you for the comment.

Thank you for the lists. I looked a so many in my initial search before posting, but I think I found it in the second list you provided. I believe the book is For the Love of Venice by Donna Jo Napoli. I ordered a used copy so if it is the book I will update the thread just incase anyone else was interested. I'll be moving the thread from unsolved though, since I'm fairly confident that is the book. Thank you everyone for your assistance this has been bugging me for about a year now!
