D.L. Hello, everyone. This is a challenge I am hosting here at Book Obsessed. Melanie has graciously given me her approval to run it.

Do you have several or even a ton of books sitting on your shelves just collecting dust (or in e-reader-speak, virtual dust)? Would you like to scale down the number of dusty books you have to complete? Well, welcome to the Conquer Mount TBR Challenge . It will run throughout the rest of the year (2017).

You can read as many books as you want, but your goal is to start with the oldest books on your TBR list first. Get those out of the way as soon as you can.

Levels--
Level 1: 1-10 books
Level 2: 11-20 books
Level 3: 21-30 books
Level 4: 31-40 books
Level 5: 41+ books

Guidelines:
- Kindle Books, Nook Books, etc. ARE allowed.
- Reviews are appreciated (link us if you write one!) but not necessary.
- When you sign up, state the level you're most interested in tackling.
- You can make a post with a list of the books you plan to read although it's optional.
- Report in this thread whenever you've finished a book.

Prizes:
While reading is a reward unto itself, *if* you complete your goal, whatever it may be, by the end of the year, you will receive a specially made graphic/banner to show off.

So... who's ready to sign up?

Laura (lauradragonchild) hey Daph. Would it be ok if I switched a title in my challenge? I kept reading the reviews for one of my books and they are really bad. I'd like to leave it on the shelf for a longer time and read another in it's place. Do the rules allow that or I have to read only those I have specified on the list already?

message 12: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) I'd like to replace The Sacred Scroll with The Lions of AL Rassan

I think it will be ok if you replace it. I don't see anywhere in the guidelines that you can't! :)

message 14: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Thank you. I'll do that.

message 15: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) I have updated my book list. Finished reading 2 more and replaced the 2 newer James Rollins with 2 old dusty tomes of Scott Lynch I just found in a cupboard from who knows when:).
Also The Lions of Al-Rassan replaced the boring Scroll:)
4 done out of 42 - still lots to go! I wonder if I'll get to finish them this year.

You can do it, you are a fast reader!

Laura (lauradragonchild) 5 done out of 42. Hope you're right Melanie. I wouldn't want my first ever reading challenges to be a failure :).

Laura (lauradragonchild) 9 done out of 42

message 21: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) finished 1 more. 10 done now out of 42.
I have also deleted the titles from the list of which i am not sure of reading. 3672 unread books are there in my e-book library. And about 150 unread paperbacks. I just made the count this weekend and then decided to take it cool and read whichever i feel like and whenever i feel like. At least this way i get to finish some!
The best part is I am still buying books!!! Help!!!
There was such a good offer for World's Book Day and I couldn't resist. Bought 24 paperbacks in one shot on Sunday for just 12 bucks. Lucky I have huge bookshelves that are not empty!

message 22: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) finished another 5 out of my list which makes it now a total of 15 read out of 42.

Good job Laura!! I've read a lot this year, just not from List, lol.

message 24: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Thank you Melanie. I am a little flexible here as I have a lot of old books that I can choose from. So I'm at an advantage :). The oldest of them are still on the list and I promised myself to finish them before buying new ones. So I must finish them!😁
