I'll nominate The Raphael Affair by Iain Pears, a series I have heard good things about and have been meaning to start for some time

My nomination for the next book is Gorky Park by Martin Cruz Smith.

Ignore if this is inappropriate.

Yeah, it really isn't the place, but what you could do is if you get enough interested people is set up a buddy read for your book (we have a separate topic thread for buddy reads). That would definitely be okay.

I'd like to nominate The Crossing Places, by Elly Griffiths. I haven't read any of this author's work yet, but I understand this book won the 2016 CWA Dagger in the Library award.

We've already read Linwood Barclay -- can you pick another author.

If any of you are at all wondering about series first novels, here's a good place to go:

I've got that on my bookshelf awaiting my attentions, as well. One I was thinking of nominating.
to reiterate, just an FYI:
"Please do NOT nominate an author we've previously read and please make sure it is the first book in an ongoing series."

Yes! It's been on my bedside table for years!

It's largely in the eye of the beholder. Fortunately, this group includes all three so it doesn't really matter.

"To those who lurk in the shadows, he’s known as the Gray Man. He is a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible and then fading away. And he always hits his target. Always."
Ive been meaning to read/begin this series for a while. Now seems a good time to begin. New year, and all. So, I'll nominate it for this month.

Hello Nominate Defending Jacob.
Thx Dan

Yes! Gorky Park, I've been wanting to read that. Great movie.

Nice choice Suzy, I'm still looking for an excuse to read this soon!

Excellent choice!

Hi Nancy ... Apologies for what might seem a really silly question, but if you've nominated a book to read do you still vote? (Still learning the etiquette of group membership ... !)

You should have absolutely no problems finding info about mystery/crime/thriller series -- there are several really good places on line if your mind draws a blank.
PLEASE don't nominate a book unless you are 100 per cent willing to be the discussion leader if your choice wins.
And as always, authors, this is NOT the venue for promoting your own work.
Now, on with the nominations!
