Alice | 756 comments I finished A Memory of Violets: A Novel of London's Flower Sellers A Memory of Violets A Novel of London's Flower Sellers by Hazel Gaynor by Hazel Gayner 4 stars out of 5. Duel time book 1870 and 1912. Book discusses life of the flower girls peddling flowers on the streets of London. The awful life they lived and the compassion that was shown to the . Lots of twist and turns in the story. Well written characters. Gives you a good understanding of the times. Highly recommend

Alice | 756 comments I am reading A Perilous Perspective A Perilous Perspective (Lady Darby Mystery, #10) by Anna Lee Huber by Anna Lee Huber. Book 10 of the Lady Darby series. Love this series. Kiera and Gage are great characters. I find aspects of this story a bit annoying like Kiera going into someone's house and telling them their painting fraud (I would keep my mouth shut). Lovely setting in Argyll, Scotland. Set in 1832

Zermeena | 725 comments I listened to The Talented Mr. Ripley. It was a disturbing story which managed to be compelling at the same time. Tom Ripley is a flawed character who lives life on the edge.

I consider them cozy but most probably don't.

My considering something cozy is mostly subjective based more on how I feel while reading and when I finish rather than objective things others consider makes book a cozy.

Until I did some background research on her for my F2F book group, I didn't realize she was in her late 70s when she wrote the last few books. I wonder if that had something to do with the quality of the stories? Especially if she was ill at the time...?

Dark Slayer (Dark, #17) by Christine Feehan Dark Slayer

Dark Slayer and Dark Whisper feature couples where each partner is a warrior with unique talents. It was a welcome surprise when the Ancient in Dark Whisper quickly accepts his other half as a partner in battle. That was one of the things that made Dark Slayer a favorite of mine.

Alice | 756 comments I finished Jacqueline in Paris Jacqueline in Paris by Ann Mah by Ann Mah. It is about the college years of Jacequline Bouvier Kennedy. I really wanted to like this book it was just okay for me. It was interesting to hear about post war France. I found parts about Jacqueline's live a bit boring and repetitive. Her mother was a very difficult lady, must of been tough putting up with her as a young woman.

L J | 714 comments Been reading a lot of things, such as non-fiction, that I don't track on Goodreads.

Among things I do track:

Books by Ilona Andrews
Read installments posted on website but read complete
Sweep of the Heart (Innkeeper Chronicles, #5) by Ilona Andrews
Sweep of the Heart

Can Kate, Curran, or Conlan live quiet inconspicuous lives? No! Not happening. No way. No how.
Magic Tides (Kate Daniels Wilmington Years, #1; Kate Daniels, #10.5) by Ilona Andrews
Magic Tides
So much fun! I stayed up till about 3 in the morning reading it and re-reading some scenes.

Also still reading Christmas theme but in genres other than cozy mystery.

CherD (cheryde) | 17 comments I just started Still Life by Louise Penny which I am just starting as part of the book club I belong to. I have been watching the series Three Pines on Amazon Prime. Excellent. Of course, the books are just the basis of the series but that is fine with me, I enjoy watching the series as one cannot expect the TV or movie to be just like the book. I have always wondered why someone would expect those two to be "just alike." Visual interpretation has to be different due to many factors. I have to say though, the actor, Alfred Molina, is perfect for Gamache!
