Jeannine (jeanninereads) | 15 comments I just finished A Dress of Violet Taffeta by Tessa Arlen and it was incredible. If anyone has a thing for historical fiction that has some humor and romantic elements, check it out. I haven't wanted to restart a book upon finishing it in a while. WOW.

Alice | 756 comments This morning I woke up early and finished The Book Woman's Daughter The Book Woman's Daughter (The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, #2) by Kim Michele Richardson Author: Kim Michele Richardson. I gave it 5 stars. Second book in series. The first book was excellent and so was this one. Really brought you deep into social issus of Appalacia in the 1950s. I I enjoyed learning about roles of women (Pack Horse librian, fire watchwather and frontier nurses). There is so much history in the USA that we know little about.. I highly recommend.

Alice | 756 comments I finished Run Rose Run Run Rose Run by Dolly Parton by Dolly Parton and James Patternon. I am not much of a James Patterson fan but the idea of a book by Dolly Parton was intriguing. Surprising it was quite good. Quick read.

Good to know, Alice, thanks. I loved the first book, but have been hesitant to read the next, wondering how it would hold up to the first.

That series is so addictive! I love what a mess Sebastian's life was in the early books. Poor guy. The women in the series are pretty amazing!

I'm currently reading a book that's like a queer Hallmark holiday story...aside from some iffy writing and repetition, it's kind of cute. It's called In the Event of Love by Courtney Kae.

Zermeena | 725 comments I read Peaceful Heart: The Buddhist Practice of Patience. The Buddhist practice of patience is not what we typically think of as patience. I learned a lot from this book and got some good tips on dealing with difficult people. As well as learning to recognize the pain I feel when I don't get what I want and more importantly when I get what I don't want.

Jeannine (jeanninereads) | 15 comments A few weeks ago, I went down a rabbit hole and read all nine books in a cozy, historical mystery series by Lynn Messina called the Beatrice Hyde-Clare Mysteries. They're hilarious, outrageous, and fast reads (most are under 300 pages).

I had so much fun with them that I started reading her other series, which I thought was another historical mystery series, but it might be romance? I'm only one book in and there's a spy plot, but it's also heavy on romantic elements. It's called The Harlow Hoyden. It's not as outrageous as the Beatrice Hyde-Clare series, but still a fun romp.

Alice | 756 comments I finished Murder on Waverly Place by Victoria Thompson 4 stars our 5. One of my favorite historical mystery series. All of our favorite characters are back. This book is focus on murder at a séance. Lots of good discussion around spiritualist around the turn of 1900s, and how they used to dupe their clients. Very good detail. I enjoyed it very much.

Jeannine (jeanninereads) | 15 comments I was totally influenced by the hype for Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Man. It's a romance, but there's a mystery (she has a Frankenstein, but he has some of his memories, so they are trying to figure out who he is). It's a bit ridiculous and very strange, but I'm intrigued enough to keep going.

Fascinating! That's quite a break from the historical mystery/romance she's known for.
