Serial Killing in 2017

I updated my series started in 2017 on my list on page 1 of this thread. I added several, including the Demon Cycle, now that I have finished The Warded Man. I just looked and I have 456 books listed to be read on my 1st-in-series-to-be-read shelf. Unreal!
LOL! Dawn. Yeah, I really need to stop adding titles, but they all sound so good.I killed the Bobiverse trilogy by Dennis E. Taylor today. Ray Porter narrated all three books and was so fantastic to listen to! It was funny, heartbreaking, fascinating and exciting and I might even do it all again someday.
Well since finishing the yearly challenge I've returned to my serial killer ways. I've killed off 3 series so far and working on number 4. Hope to kill off a few more by the end of the year. There really is a feeling of satisfaction when you can cross one off the list. ☺

I'm in the same boat, I killed off 3 but added 14 so I'm not really getting any further ahead, lol.

I just looked. I finished 9 series this year. I have two or three more that I plan to finish.
I started 26 series.
I read 80 books in a series!
Wow that's great Jannene! I haven't even read a total of 80 books this year, let alone that many series books. Hopefully more of my series will fit the next yearly challenge.
Sarah wrote: "I read another book in the Harry Hole series - Nemesis I WILL finish this series. At some point..."I hope to finish that one this year. I just have the last book to read. Dom and I were reading those together.
Lori Z wrote: "Wow that's great Jannene! I haven't even read a total of 80 books this year, let alone that many series books. This last push of the year makes me want to finish the few series where I have one or two left in the series. (Harry Hole, Jill Jackson, Stacey Killian, and the Malone series).
You can do it, Jannene! I have no hope of finishing my longer series. I have the last books in two different trilogies, but I am not sure I can fit them both in. They are long. I have not caught up with my orphan books issued since two of my other series were killed in 2016 either.
I just realized that the next Iron Druid book due out next year, Scourged, is the last book in the series! I'm so excited. I will finally kill off the series next year instead of just creating another orphan.
Good for you, Jannene. I am hopeful to get some orphan books caught up on next year. Other than that, all I seem to do is add 1st-in-series books to my growing list.
I've had some time to get to a few series books, since I finished with my yearly challenge. I finished book 2 and 3 of the Georgiana Kincade series and went on a trip to Belize with Barbara Holloway, in book 12 - which is out of sequence, but didn't matter to the story line. I also rekindled my love of Robert Langdon with Dan Brown's Origin, which was an orphan. I'm planning on a few series books in next years Zodiac Challenge, so my serial killing will continue into 2018.
It's been a while since I killed off a series this year. In fact, I've only killed 5. I don't want to know how many I started.Last night I finished Hawaii Five Uh-Oh! which was #5 (and last) in the Tiki Goddess Mystery series.
If there are more books published in future, I doubt I will read them. The sizzle has fizzled on the romance interest, the crime was bland as was the humour, and the tension caused by one of the Hula Maidens have PTMD (Post Traumatic Monkey Disorder) was lame.
It just feels good to have finished off the year by killing a series.
Not many people seem to use it now. Definitely more people did at the beginning of the year though. I'm easy either way.
I have a list of series I’d like to kill off, but I never seem to get to them. I probably should have used this thread more. It’s up to you ladies. I could take it or leave it.
Janice wrote: "Do you want to continue in 2018 with a thread dedicated to series killing?"Might be tougher with the new challenge. I do love killing off series though! If we don’t do it here, I will join the 2018 Challenge group’s “Serial” Challenge.
So year-end wrap up of my serial killing. I killed off 10 series this year! However, I added 15 so I'm still in the hole, lol. I do plan on continuing my killing in 2018, but since I killed all the series that I only had one book left to read, its going to be harder here on out. I'm going to have to read multiple books for each series before they're dead.Anyway, as far as continuing this thread in 2018, its up to whatever everybody else thinks. I didn't participate a lot on this thread, but I did follow it to see how everyone was progressing with their killing sprees. I keep track of my series in my reading plans thread so I'm good to go whatever is decided.
Happy Reading Everyone in 2018!!
Unless there is a demand for a new thread for 2018, I think we'll have people track their series in their personal member zone thread if they so desire.
I did manage to kill off 4 small series/trilogies, but I also added 13 new ones. Overall - I read seven other books to previously listed series and three orphan books. Not a great, but some progress. I am going to keep my killing focused on my new 2018 thread. It has been fun hunting with everyone here. Good luck on your serial killing in 2018!

I hate when that happens. I call that "watering the soup" (or the Series). I think is all about business and maybe the editorial pressure
