Ju Transcendancing (transcendancing) I participated in the March challenge: The Women in the Book Challenge.

I wanted to read 2 books, and targeted 3 tasks as a way to achieve it. Actually squeaking in just as March became April I achieved all 3 tasks, so exceeded my goal.

1. Read a book written by a female author that is new to you.
I read Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. (Which despite the hype, I liked but didn't love).

2. Read a book written by a female of color.
I read Home by Nnedi Okorafor.
(And joined everyone else in the land of cliffhanger angst).

3. Read a nonfiction book written by a female author.
I read Birth Matters: A Midwife's Manifesta by Ina May Gaskin.
(I'm studying to be a midwife and it was a useful US and historical look at midwifery perspective, and how for all the awesome of modern medicine, we also still fail women and babies and families so often, highly recommended read.)

Excellent challenge, really enjoyed this (most of my reading i actually female authors and I'm trying to improve on other intersections of diversity, but this was a nice way to focus on it).

Note: you counted a book twice and need to read a different book for crime.

Ju Transcendancing (transcendancing) I pledged for the 2nd Quarter Challenge 'Clear your shelves' for 5 books in any format (post #93) but did not manage to clear a single book. Oops!

I got 8/15 books and didn't manage to read a different crime book that I accidentally counted twice:

I haven't quite managed this yet, but i've got 2 books remaining at 26th December so I'm confident I'll manage it by the end of the month, so I'm calling this complete too!
