I was reading All Is Not Forgotten, but 30% into it I realized it was not for me. There are many 5 star reviews for it - but I've decided not to waste any more time on it. Now reading UNSUB by Meg Gardiner

Wish I had the good sense to give up on a book that's not working.

I just finished an ARC that was just terrible. It was the 2nd book in a series and the first book was awful too (I got it from the library, it wasn't an ARC for me). I made a commitment when I took the book as an ARC so I finished it.
Right? A book hardly ever gets better. When I soldier on and just finish it: my review is usually unfavorable, and I feel like I've wasted my valuable reading time.
I depend on the reviews of my Goodreads Friends and the vast majority of the time my friends are right. It helps weed out the bad or merely mediocre. Sometimes with an ARC you get a new author, which can be great. Or, in my recent instance, this was a established author and I just didn't like her writing style.

Lynne wrote: "Right? A book hardly ever gets better. When I soldier on and just finish it: my review is usually unfavorable, and I feel like I've wasted my valuable reading time."Exactly! I used to feel guilty about not finishing a book even if I found it terrible. Then I thought to myself, "why am I wasting my time?"
