Sankara Jayanth S (sankarajayanth) | 1158 comments Yes. Actually, that one was the first book of Inspector gamache series that I read, it's 9th in the series I guess? I loved it. I loved everything about the book. So many interesting and well written characters. And I've read all the others that came after it, 9-12 books. I have to catch up on the books 1-8.

Have you read Louise Penny's work before?

message 38: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 878 comments Am about 50% into Matilda. Loving it. Such an easy read.
Just into the second chapter in The Hobbit. An okayish read so far.
Just finished the 3rd chapter of The Idiot and to my great surprise am loving it.
Finished 1st story of Volga to Ganga. It is crude but good.

message 41: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 878 comments Matilda 3/5 stars.

A cute read. Loved Matilda the numerous books she read and all in the first half. But the cruelty of The trunchbull was too unreal in the 2nd half. Loved Miss Honey , and the clever means by which justice is brought to her by Matilda.. Was the ending a little too much of a fairytale?

message 42: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 878 comments Finished 4 stories in Volga to Ganga. Going very slow with 1 story per day. That seems to satiate me. Interesting read and informative too. Now I remember loving History in school. Must read more of these type maybe a Rutherford next.

At 38% in The Hobbit. Not a book that calls me to it but one that once picked up flows smoothly.

Finished 9 chapters of The Idiot. And there was more drama in the last chapter than I ever expected from a Doestoevsky. Very good.

Started The House on the Strand BR with Aparna. Riveting...

Have plans to start Goodbye, Mr. Chips: To You, Mr. Chips soon again a BR with Aparna.

2 BR and the others all Group reads. I am one contented purring cat just now.

message 49: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 878 comments Other Updates

The House on the Strand At 80% A haunting book. Somewhat dark ,a time travel tale, very much engaging.

Goodbye Mr Chips At 45% A poignant tale. a slow paced one .

Volga To Ganga Page 138/330 Good going. Interesting so far.

The Hobbit Listening to the audio . Have reached the later chapters. And if it were not for that beautiful voice I would have long abandoned this.
