Started reading The house on cold hill by Peter James but I don't think I can continue every paragraph there's a brand name mentioned it's like a shopping list with all the product placement it's ridiculous
Just finished
The Secrets of Gaslight Lane by M.R.C. Kasasian which I rather enjoyed. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show.... Am about to start
Snapshots from My Uneventful Life by David I. Aboulafia
I walked past my bookshelf the other day and spotted a book I bought a couple of years back: Blue Belle by Andrew Vachss. It was a bit of a nostalgic choice. Back in the nineties I used to turn every stone in the city to find copies of Burke novels. As I live in Norway, it's perhaps needless to say that I hardly found any. That was probably for the best anyway. My English wasn't nearly good enough anyway.
Now I am about half way through the book, and the writing is much better than I remembered (that's probably because I just pretended to understand). I'm really enjoying this one.

I finished Nemesis

I recently finished reading The Ice Beneath Her.Here is my five star review:

Thanks to Bookouture, Carol Wyer and Netgalley, for a ARC digital copy; it was my pleasure to write an honest review on the nail biting, gripping and tense thriller.
Bookouture you have found a great author here, I loved this book.
Another great female Detective Inspector character that I will have to follow.
Detective Robyn Carter, returning to the police force after a series of personal tragedies, dives into several investigations; a husband has gone missing and a man turns up murdered. Once she begins her investigations, she sees a link between these men. As she digs deeper and deeper, her investigation leads her to housewife Abigail and her family. How is she connected to these victims and why is she receiving threatening messages; there are secrets and someone wants those secrets told. When Abigail’s daughter is abducted, the race is on to find the perpetrator in time…
The author does such a great job with keeping the pace, tension and story so well, with as mentioned before a collection of great characters, good and bad. I had no glue to the guilty character/characters and kept changing my mind.
The story picks up to a rollercoaster pace for the last 30% -40 % of the book, and the race is on for Detective Inspector Carter and her team.
A fantastic book that I can recommend to everyone. A clear five stars.
This author will be one I look for her next book alongside great police thrillers from Angela Marsons, Sharon Bolton, Casey Hill, Mel Sherratt and Robert Bryndza ... to name a few.
Finished the house on cold hill by Peter James, what a load of rubbish that was, product placement everywhere and a poor rip off of the amityville horror
I finished The Professionals
by Owen Laukkanen. Four college grads can't get jobs and decide to form a kidnapping ring. Things go okay until they grab a guy whose family is 'connected.' After that, the gang goes on the run from the mafia and law enforcement. Pretty good thriller. 3 stars.

I finished Murder In The Family
by Burl Barer. This is a true crime story. In 1985 Nancy Newman and her two young daughters were murdered in their Anchorage, Alaska apartment. Nancy's nephew was tried for the crimes. This book consists mostly of interrogation and trial transcripts, with comments by the author. 3 stars.

I just finished The Black Echo, by Michael Connelly, as part of an adult ed course on mysteries, with a discussion to follow next week. It's the first in Connelly's Harry Bosch series, and it was a well written, good police procedural. An interesting plot point had Bosch acquainted with the victim through their shared Vietnam Nam service as tunnel rats. I liked it.
I just finished IQ
, which was great stuff, and started
.Linda: jealous of your being able to take that course. I love Connelly.
Have finished death in shanghai and wasn't soo keen on it it started out good but ended up being a bit too unbelievable. Am now reading barabara erskine's first collection of short stories Encounters and it has already made me cry ( in a good way) so am very happy
I finished Arf
by Spencer Quinn,This middle-grade mystery, narrated by Bowser the dog, is a fun book (that adults will like as well). In this story, 11-year-old Birdie Gaux investigates some odd occurrences with her pooch, Bowser. 3 stars.

I've just started The Judas Pair, the first Lovejoy mystery by Jonathan Gash and Open Season, the first Joe Gunther mystery by Archer Mayor.
I finished Until Proven Guilty
by J.A. JanceThis is the first book in the "JP Beaumont" mystery series. Beau and his new partner have to solve the murder of a 5-year-old girl involved with a cult. Way too much unlikely romance in this introduction to the series....but worth reading to meet the characters.
2.5 stars

My first book by this author and his character Mark Cole.
After finishing this book, have just bought the next five books in the series.
Mark Cole is a deniable operative for the US government, a patriot who is always willing to give his life for his country. Living in the Caymans with his wife and two children, he is no longer fully active, but due to his unique abilities he is called upon to perform a difficult assassination.
The target is the Director of the CIA’s National Clandestine Service; but after the mission, Cole becomes a target himself. And as the forces against him mount up relentlessly, he realizes that greed and hunger for power at the highest levels means that he can trust nobody. Cole discovers that not only are thousands of lives at risk, but his own wife and children are threatened.
Pushed into deciding whether to protect global security or to save his family, Cole vows that he will stop at nothing to do both – whatever the cost.
I loved the book, although some reviews give this a one star?
The is escapism with a touch of reality, yes although maybe a little far fetched.
Let's remember we are reading the book because we like this type of book, and to me it had great characters, a fast paced, action packed and thrilling story, brutal at times, yes, but never lacks the pace we love with this action books.
Many great characters, with the story plots all interesting and keeps you guessing all the way.
So I could not put the book down, so for me it has to get five stars.
You can read excerpts from 40 new books in Buzz Books 2017 Spring/Summer, including what look like some good mysteries.I've picked 10 books that I particularly liked and given a bit of info in my review:

Kill the Father. Highly recommended. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished an ARC from C.P. Wilson, Ice Cold Alice. I hope that when the book comes out in March it will have gotten a few upgrades, because it's really a good story. I gave it a 3.5 (finally settled on 3 stars), but it could easily become a 4, even a 5. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
