That one was bizarre. I'll be interested in seeing what you think about it.

The Redeemer
by Jo NesbøIn this 6th book in the series, Harry Hole and his team are trying to stop a Croatian hitman who's after a Norwegian Salvation Army worker. Lots of action in this thriller. 4 stars

Started
a very accurate view of WWII. Some horrific scenes, but oh so true even though the book is fiction. I was alive during this era! Am halfway into it.
I've finished reading another old book, this time from 1865, Force and Fraud: A Tale of the Bush by Ellen Davitt. Actually, it ended up being surprisingly good.
I finished Song of the Lion
by Anne HillermanIn this addtion to the 'Navajo Tribal Mysteries' - being continued by author Anne Hillerman - Bernie and Chee (with help from Joe Leaphorn) investigate a deadly car bombing. Pretty good mystery, but not quite up to Tony Hillerman's standards. 3 stars

I just finished reading Least Wanted by Debbi Mack. You can read my review at http://world-of-sleuths.blogspot.com/....I am starting to read Murder as a Fine Art by David Morrell.
Aussie Author Michael Sala has written about his (now) hometown of Newcastle, NSW, in The Restorer, where short-fused Roy is trying to restore a house and his family.

Starting an ARC of A Plague of Giants, the first of a new fantasy series by Kevin Hearne. This appears to be more serious and closer to high fantasy than his Iron Druid series.
This book was a surprise! Little Black Lies
. I enjoyed it - and WOW! What a twist! https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Moonstone, by Wilkie Collins. So far it has a bit of a pulpy vibe, but I'm still at the beginning. I think this one will be fun.

I read it as a teen so it's like a whole new read for me this time around. Our mutual friend DMR says it was a snoozefest for him but so far I'm enjoying it. We'll see.

Nancy wrote: "Good luck with The Man on the Train. I thought it was absolutely terrible. .."Here's my review. I haven't finished it but I thought I should post my review to give others an idea of what they are getting into. I find that reading it is like watching a car wreck. I just can't look away.

I think that the publisher should put the blurb on the cover where the author says that he believes President Kennedy was shot by a secret service agent. Readers should be warned what they are getting into.

I couldn't stop reading either, even though it was terrible. Larry kept telling me "just put it down" because I was getting so angry I was actually yelling, but I had to finish it.

Not yet....that'll be next on my list. Thank you, Tom!
I just finished reading Murder as a Fine Art by David Morrell. It's a good book to read this time of year. It's a historical thriller that takes place in Victorian London where a copycat serial killer is started brutally murdering people in London the exact same way some murders were done 43 years before that. You can read my review at http://world-of-sleuths.blogspot.com/....I am starting to read Burnt Sienna by David Morrell.
The Alphabet House
by Jussi Adler-OlsenIn WWII, two British flyers get shot down and - by dint of luck and cunning- are able to disguise themselves as Germans in a German mental hospital. They have to endure electroshock and other 'therapies'....and things get dicey. Intense psychological drama....rather graphic. 3 stars

I'm reading a Charles Todd, A Pattern of Lies. It's the early autumn of 1918, and Bess Crawford is investigating the explosion of a gunpowder mill that took place two years earlier; the owner has been arrested for murder, and the authorities are being extremely uncooperative.
