Good na.... I enjoy the solitude I get.. but agree it becomes too much if it stretches for too long.

Half of my vacations are over and I haven't read as much as I wanted to read them.:( still I have managed to read few books.
1. The Feast for Goat - have been read this for 2 months. A very heavy book (in content) about Rafael Trujillo and his 30 year regime in Dominican Republic.
2. Mister O - a rom-com. Fast and fun.
3. A Dance with Dragons - fourth book in ASOIAF, not anywhere near first three but I was glad to meet Snow and Tyrion again. I can't see Martin completing this series so will watch HBO series to see who wins the Iron Throne.
4. The Library of Unrequited Love - Weekend Read. Short and an enjoyable read.
5. LOTR (1-3) - took me full three months to reach mount doom but what a journey it was! Will definitely tread this path again.
6. Wasp Factory - a surprising read for me and my rating for my buddy. The twisted and dark tale of 16 year old. Insight into the mind of Frank and how he works. Gave me chills at times.
And these books also helped me in reaching 70 books goal of my GR challenge. Now my new goal is to read 110 books but I have all 300+ pages books to read.:(
Currently reading
Great train robbery - Syl's recommendation (before that Jaya and Tarinee's recommendation). In chapter 14 and am quite enjoying all the minute details that Pierce is working on to rob the train.
The Road - Will finally start today.
Idiot - my June project, and my first Dostoyevsky. Last time I stopped it at 55 pages. This time am around 125 pages into it. Hopefully will finish it this time.
One Hundred years of Solitude - magical realm, one of my favourite genre. Needless to say am enjoying it.
Coming weekend is readathon and I have decided to read I Capture the Castle and Dracula. Hope i will finish both in time.

Congrats for reaching the goal so early :)
Will congratulate again when you reach the 110 well in time, and yet again the next target well before time :P

Yes... at this rate, M can easily do 150. But don't let numbers lure you - important thing is reading what one loves and plans to.... rather than increase the counts... though increased numbers cause a bit of happiness too. ;)

Thank you Girish.:)
Thank you Girish.:)
@Syl: Have been reading lighter books that's why I achieved this goal easily but out of 85 books that I want read for my Reading goals I have read only 22.:( will be picking less romance now.
Of course increased numbers gives happiness and satisfaction to me.;)

it's been a while since I came here last. looks like i have been busy reading books. 10 books in the month of June so far.
1. The Road
hated it! no punctuation, grim, and story goes nowhere. :/
2. The Great Train Robbery
loved it! an excellent blend of HF and Heist.
3. I Capture the Castle
okayish. started really good but somewhere in the middle it lost its charm for me.
4. Fifth Business
awesome! will reread it sometime.
5. The Friends of Eddie Coyle
a gritty book about crime scene of boston. One of the best dialogues I have ever read in this genre.
6. Happily Ever Ninja
Penny Reid always put this goofy smile on my face with her books.
7. Chronicles of the Black Company
gave up on it at 31%. not my type.
8. Till We Have Faces
A retelling and it was an okayish book for me.
9. Dating-ish
it's Penny Reid again! ;)
10. Us

its retelling of cupid and psyche.
that's what Syl told me:
And regarding Orual and Psyche...I read a wee bit about original tale. In that Psyche and Cupid love each other and live in a magical palace. But Cupids Mother Goddess hates Psyche and tries to.trouble them. .. and Cupid tries to avert it saying that Psyche shouldn't see his face ( don't ask me the rationale ).
Then Psyche's sisters who sreeja jealous of.her come to the palace..are feasted and sort of persuade Psyche to look at cupid that night. Angry cupid goes off and his palace disappears and Psyche wanders around.
it was sort of similar to many Indian mythological tales I had heard in childhood.

almost a month since i updated this log and i have read only 6 books , my lowest in this year. :( I read following books:
the hate u give - teenage drama revolving around racism and author has raised many issues in this thought provoking book.
american pastoral - Pulitzer winner and perhaps one of difficult books that i have read this year.
three body problem - WOW!!
black lily - a fast paced book about a good vampire prince and a rebellion leader and how they fell in love.
One hundred years of solitude - magical realm. do i need to say more? ;)
six of crows - recommendation and a good YA.
currently reading
idiot - slow and steady wins the race (that's what i am telling myself)
east of eden - at page 60 and i know am going to love it.
dark forest - sequel to tbp. just started.

been a long time since I last made an appearance here. Didn't read much in last month. here is 3-4 books that I managed to finish:
tell the wolves I am home - another recommendation and am glad that I read it. It was on my radar for quite a long time but I kept pushing it away for one reason or the other. would recommend it for a time when you want to read a different kind of story.
the red - lets not talk about this book.
A visit from Goon Squad - Made a goon of myself when I read this.
Charlotte's Web - a very sweet and short story about friendship. it left me sad and joyous at the same time.
Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine - not what I was expecting. a coming of age kind of story but our heroine is in her early thirties.
Currently reading (and will be reading them next month too)
Idiot, Count of Monte Cristo
will be finishing this month:
East of Eden, Yellow Crocus and The Dark Forest.
P.S: Still 43 books away from achieving my Reading Goals for 2017. A long way to go and only 4.5 months remains.
