Manju's Reading Log 2017
it's been a while that I updated this log. In 14 days I managed to finish 5 books (three of which were around 100 pages only).
A House to Let and The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate, were weekend reads. Short but enjoyable reads.
Mera Parivar - got inspired by Gorab's review. It was a great experience. A collection of short stories about Author's different pets, it was amazing to read about different animals and how they behave around their owner.
Anchor Me - Romance and it was meh!
Red Rising - Wanted to read a light and fast moving book in between my slow (and big) reads but it just failed to impress. Gave it 3 stars initially but I think I will remove one star by the time I type a review for this.
Currently reading:
A Dance with the Dragons - Martin can never go wrong.;)
LoTR (1-3) - Its good to be in the very original fantasy world for once. Feels like I am walking with Frodo and Sam through those woods trying to escape Black Riders.
Feast of Goat - An intense book so far and I don't know what will happen next. I love books where everything is unpredictable.

I have read first two books. will read third for the first time.
have you started? Is it your first time or a reread?

I have listened to first one hour to check for the quality and if narrator is good with voice modulations for diff. characters .
In total 22 hours / book . so 21 hours more to go in the first book :)
first book is different from movie in parts but highly enjoyable. I love those movies. :)
Am around 50% in first book but am reading very slowly so I think you will catch up soon. :)
what happened in that first hour? Bilbo's birthday party?

after one hour I end up watching the series again :P
When Gandalf tells Frodo tale of Ring for the first time, I felt so scared. Sam is one of my most favorite character of the series.
the whole trilogy? O.O
the whole trilogy? O.O

Me too .Sam is height of friendship . I loved that character in the movie series <3 .The audio book I am listening to is also very good .Kind of provides back ground musics as per situations in the story. And the narrator is very good with the voice of Sam(Rob English) . Kind of making me sad every time I pause the book , even part of me rebelling to continue . I make myself believe that I am resisting the temptation of the ring :P
'The Old forest' over .chapter 6 . so yep not very much successful at resisting the ring :P
the whole trilogy? O.O"
Fantasy Movies I can watch for days without getting bored . I was a legend during my engineering as far as watching fantasy movies are concerned .record : Harry potter all 8 movies in a single go. *sun glasses *
:P :D

Started M&M and to make space for other books and also read this everyday, I have decided to read 10 pages/day. As per plan, read 10 pages of which 5 were full of author and his family photos. read 5 pages of first chapters. good so far.

which one was good Manu? the photos? ;-)
I am starting now too :-) and will keep spamming here in the name of discussion :P
@Kru & @Smi : Which editions you are reading? Am reading Amla Classic and I don't have Intro and Parts in my book.:(
At page 20 and done with chapter 1.
what it is started out a really strange encounter turn, it later turned into an interesting conversation (though only for one and me, the reader). First about the faith in existence of Christ and then some future telling. I liked all the three characters so far.
second chapter is some story from the past but a very interesting one at that.
@Kru and @Syl : made any progress?

Have just started chapter 1 after a longish intro. Will try to read 20 pages of chapter 1 tonight.
true.:( I keep going back and forth between Appendix and chapter. >_<

That is just a few pages before the last page :D
been weeks since I last updated my log. so here is what i was reading these days:
Finished Since We Fell and The Painted Man.
both books got 3 stars from me.
Since we fell was psycho thriller. it started slow, mid was absolutely awesome and then end was abrupt. I expect more than this from Lehane.
the painted man was on my tbr ever since I joined GR. As the final book is coming out later this year, I thought its high time that I start reading this book. beside that it also helps me in one of my reading goals for this year. An amazing world and an equally awesome start to the book and then after 50%, it started dragging. Characters' introduction was very good but author just skipped the transition from young kids to what they became later in the book. Will book 2 soon.
Hoping to finish 2 books this week. Feast of goat, only two chapters remains and am confused about the rating. lets see how it ends. A Dance with Dragons, definitely it is snatching 4 stars from me.
On vacations from Thursday, have selected few books but most others will be picked on whim.
P.S: I also crossed 20k page mark. #show-off ;)

Rom-com I find easy as its mostly follow two people and what is going on in their mind. Not too many characters, so its easy to keep tabs on everyone. but I would never put fantasy in easy category as authors create a whole new world, races, new traditions, religion and magic system. It take a lot of time to get hold of world and what kind of danger that people in this imaginary world are facing. PNR is paranormal romance.
I haven't read a single tome this year. :(
