Shelf #8: Snarky/Snarky Heroine
Date finished/Rating: 3/10 ★★★★½
Loved this book! Thankfully, we have the usual crew together (Dina, Sean, Arland) with the addition of Dina's sister who's super kickass! Loved the plot about religion persecution and the reason for it was such a great twist! I found though that the relationship with Sean moved so fast, probably because he was barely in the second book. The end is a bit cliffhangerish but I didn't mind. So looking forward to the next book in the series!

Book: Sweet Ruin by Kresley Cole

Review:
What an amazing addition to the IAD series. I had some misgivings about starting this book - one being the introduction of 2 new characters when there are so many characters that deserve page time and two because it has been awhile since I had read Dark Skye and I feared that I would get lost.
Needless to say my concerns were unjustified. Yes two new characters were introduced - but they are amazing. They brought more to the overall story - including the introduction of the Møriør, a powerful group every bit as dangerous as the Pravus and the Vertas.
Sweet Ruin is strong enough to be a standalone because Ms. Cole is such an exceptional writer that the story flows without having to do a lot of explaining about "The Lore" but I strongly suggest reading the other books because it's such a great series.
Nix is mentioned a couple of times about mid-way through but the big tie-in to the series really doesn't happen until the last several chapters. I can't wait to read Shadow's Seduction and Wicked Abyss!

A different type of story, but one that I enjoyed reading. I thought in many ways Mackenzie was mature for her age, and the slip-ups she had were understandable considering all she's had to deal with in the past few years. I was happy when she met Wes, really liked their relationship. The ending wasn't a complete surprise, but it was good enough that it makes me want to read the next book soon.

Excellent, Megan!

Grrr...I would read this if only was available on audio...

Gah!! Anyhow...the book is going so good (I've been listening practically half the night) that I can't stop now. I'll pick up something once I finish this one.

There should be a law that once a story starts being offered through audio, ALL books in that series needs to be audio!

I just read The Fill-In Boyfriend last month and loved it! I hope you will as well. :)

I loved this book and flew through it! Had it not been that I was holding off finishing so it would work for a challenge I was doing, I think I'd have finished it in a day. Rose relationships all had struggles in this book. I felt badly for Adrian, because it seemed like Mason all over again, but at the same time I don't want them together. Adrian's a fun guy and I'd like to see him settled down and happy, just not with Rose or Lissa. The scene with the raid was very emotional and the consequences from what happened were as well. I have to say the ending came out of nowhere - I certainly wasn't expecting it. Definitely can't wait to start on the final book, though I'm sad because that'll mean I'll be finished with this series.

Overall I enjoyed the story. I don't think it's necessary to have read any of the books in the IAD series but I do recommend reading Shadow's Claim first as this is a continuation of events from that story.
I am not sure where Ms. Cole is going with the IAD series. Much like Sweet Ruin, Shadow's Seduction has very little to do with that storyline. Instead of continuing with characters we are dying to read about new characters are being introduced.
IAD has been one of my favorite series but I fear if she doesn't return to some of the original characters and continue that storyline she will lose a lot of her loyal readers. There are just too many other great series out there to read instead.
I recommend it if you enjoyed the first Dacian book but if you're looking for anything substantial regarding the IAD series I think you will be disappointed.

This was definitely a very fun, light, enjoyable read! I loved the characters and appreciated there was no instalove. It wasn't like there was anything new and different in this book, but I enjoyed the writing and there were a lot of chuckles and warm-fuzzies while reading this book. Sometimes it can be just about the "feels" for me!

Shelf #9: Kickass Hero
Date finished/Rating: 3/18 ~ 4.5 stars
This. THIS is how is done! THIS is how you show a woman competing in a man's world. Bravo, Ms. James. BRA-VO!!!
That's why I'm rating this book so high. Not because of the romance but because of the characterization. Jessica, our heroine, is a great FBI agent, and she's great because of her smarts, her brain, her resourcefulness, her preparation, her instincts. She's just 5'3" so OF COURSE, she's not in the same league physically as John, our hero, who as a former Army Ranger, can probably kill people with his pinky finger. And you know what? John understand that the skills she brings to the table as an FBI undercover agent are actually more important on a daily basis than his ability to kick ass and works very hard on his soft skills. AMAZING!!! People who understand that in this day and age, your brain carries the day in most situations!!!
Anyhow...my review is very long so if you want to see what else I have to say, please continue reading here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Completely agree with you, Kim. I think the author never had a real plan for the series and now she's just extending it because is a cash cow. And I think a lot of people feel like us. My most liked review of the series is the one of book #18 where I complain of this issue!

Good Job!! :D

Funny thing...this is one of my shelves but I'm reading this series out of order so I'm not shelving it there! Hahahaha!!

Shelf #10: Next in Series
Date finished/Rating: 3/24 ★★★
I'm one of those romance readers that's way easier on the men than on the women. However, that doesn't mean I cannot recognize a douchebag of the first degree like the one in this book: lies about his identity to the heroine for no reason whatsoever, a total hypocrite: slut shames the heroine while supposedly claiming that women can date whomever they want, he's mean and hurtful, runs hot and cold etc.
The heroine for her part, was a sweetheart and did NOT deserve this douchebag. She was nice, pretty, level-headed and so talented! (And the reason why I'm not rating this lower.) I wish she would have hooked up with one of his friends and kicked him in the balls.
