R14: Team #6 ~ Hex Breakers

How does she not cut her boob off or shoot it when she's all geared up? She is a triple D, I think. I read it somewhere, later in the series, and found this gif because it was so ridiculous, lol.

HILARIOUS!!!! That's awesome!!! No doubt!!! Course, when she's not busy being all bad-ass, we know she's making good use of her girls and introducing them to new friends!

R14 ~ Shelf #5: Vampires
--------------------------------------

Book: Hit List by Laurell K. Hamilton
Read: 2/16
Rating: 4-stars
Review: This was a quick read with lots of non-stop action. Anita Blake made friends with a female on the sheriff's department who was attacked and infected by a shape-shifter connected with the Harlequin. Of course Anita made another new friend (Ethan) - this one is parts of 3 different tigers and is a bit of an outcast in his community. Lucky for him, Anita was very welcoming. *wink, wink*
Crazy Olaf is in this book as well and is still a scary beast. There's discussions that one day Olaf will attempt to kill Anita and at that time, Olaf must go down. Until then, Olaf still thinks he is in love with Anita and believes he'll win her heart.
It's really hard to take Anita serious now that Nichole has posted the Anita-Blake-gif! LOL!

Book: Sins of the Heart by Eve Silver
Date Read: 2/19/17
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
This is the first story I've read by Eve Silver and I was really impressed with her writing. Sins of the Heart is the first book in her Sins/Otherkin series that has been revised and will be re-released in March.
Heavily based in mythology we meet Dagan, a powerful soul reaper and Roxy, a Daughter of Aset - sworn enemies who had a chance encounter 11 years earlier that changed both of their lives.
Not wanting to give too much away I'll just say that I loved Dagan and Roxy. I enjoyed learning about two paranormal species that I hadn't read about before. They had the right amount of chemistry and the story ended with a little bit of a cliff-hanger that has me anxious to read the next book.
I was lucky enough to have been selected to be a Beta Reader for the re-release of this series and received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I'm almost done with mine too...I got sidetracked catching up with True Blood (the TV show).

Shelf #5: Vampires
Date finished/Rating: 2/20 ★★★½
Gage is a warlock in hiding, living his life as a tattoo artist, when pretty much everybody and his mother wants a piece of him. After a tattoo went wrong (or terribly right, depending on your POV), his former mentor tries to kill him and his friends are threatened, Gage decides that enough is enough.
I really liked Gage, the world, the magic system, the love interest and I found his (sort of) unrequited love super romantic (I so love this trope) and the sexytimes were hot!! (You seldom see explicit love scenes in UF with male leads...why is that, I wonder?) However, I'm not rating it higher because there was just too much going on in this book. Too many villains and sometimes Gage did stupid things just to advance the plot when you would know he was smarter than that.
Definitely continuing the series though, specially since is just 3 books.

I think as we wait for the next shelf, I'll start re-reading the 1st book in the Innkeeper/End of Days series. I'd like to catch on at least one of those series during this challenge.

Shelf #5: Vampires
Date Read: 2/21/17
Rating: ★★★★★
Review:
I enjoyed reading the first book in the series, but I loved this book a lot more. Rose grew a lot in this book and I loved that! The ending was fantastic and I definitely want to read more of this series, sooner rather than later, maybe next month.

Great! Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I'll be reading Shadow Kiss. :)

Something else to note...the 'fav series' shelf was called a couple of weeks ago. If you have read some other book after the shelf was called and it's part of a series, it may be good to check if it's on that shelf. It could be that you already read something that's good for the shelf.

Good news is that somebody FINALLY shelved the spin-off of one of my favorite series as steampunk so I'm set if that's the one. :)

I need it for another challenge and held off in the hopes it might work for this week!

Good news that's the 6th shelf in our pattern!
I'll post what I'm reading tomorrow most likely.

Yes, I had to go through 19 pages to find something... LOL!
Not my favorite shelf.. but am happy with my book since it works for another challenge too. :)

It's good to hear that you loved it. I hope I continue to enjoy it too. :)

That's a good idea, unfortunately I check the books I did read and none of them look to fit it. But it's good to know for future categories. :)

K-Terror...not sure if you noticed but this book is also in the 'Mythology' shelf...

Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice

Review: I've read this book years ago and remembered it fondly so had mixed emotions about reading it again. I was afraid it wouldn't be as good the second time around, and at the same time, I was excited to see if it was as good as I remembered. I enjoyed every minute of this book. I know some folks think she's too wordy but, really, I loved her writing style. She creates such an overall atmosphere so that I felt like I was right there in the room listening to Louis recounting his life experiences. Usually I need to be able to like the characters and be able to connect with the to love a book, but here's an exception to the rule. I don't think there was anyone very likable in this book but yet it grabbed me from start to finish. I'll definitely read the next book in the series.

Shelf #6: Mythology
Date finished/Rating: 2/24 ★★★★
The best character in the whole book was the chef.
What a well thought out book. The world building was so exquisite and elaborate. Not rating it higher because:
1) Not enough Sean
2) Not enough Arland
3) Too much George which sadly, has become the kind of manipulative "end justify the means' type that I can never trust. He's the type that stabs you and then tries to convince you that he's suffering quietly while he's sticking the knife in you and how you should be fine with it because he's doing it for the better good!!! Blech! If that's the last book I see of George, I'll be happy.
