Welcome to the 2017 YoRWoC, Angie! I'm especially looking forward to your thoughts on 'Beloved', 'Their Eyes Were Watching God', and 'Persepolis'.
Welcome, Angie :). I have read about half of your list including Julia Alvarez one of my favorite authors. So glad you joined here.
These are some of my favorite authors, Angie! Hurston, Morrison and Lahiri especially. I wanted to put Ceremony on my list too, but my libraries didn't have it. I'll still be looking for it, and interested to hear your thoughts. Have fun!
Getting a late start at making a dent in my list, but I've finished The Woman Who Fell from the Sky: Poems. On to Kindred soon.

Thanks! I've heard such wonderful things about Kindred. I can't wait to read it.
I loved Woman Who Fell From the Sky so I hope you enjoy it. It's never too late, and you may find that you'll read a book by a WoC without even realizing it.
I have finished another selection. I'm holding off on Kindred for a bit, because I think I'm using it as my pick for my face-to-face book club. For now, I've just read We Should All Be Feminists. It was a wonderful discussion of gender and the need to alter our perspectives to allow for equality between the sexes. Five stars.I might do Binti soon.
