Dylan (dtholmes) | 2 comments When Read: 2005-2013

Bought: Amazon in paperback, book cover had a background of a desert with footprints leading up a hill I believe.

Author: Male, relatively unknown author.

Genre: Fantasy.

Plot: From what I can remember it is about a group of rebels/populist trying to make a better life in a desert town/settlement against a brutal government. The main protagonist is a thief/assassin. One of the first things that happens in the book is he either has to destroy or steal something from a secure building. He sneaks up to the building where two guards are at the front of the building. The one older guard is saying that he retires next week after decades of service. After much dialogue the main character is spotted and engages in combat against the two killing them. He then flees town jumping from building to building and eventually meeting up with his family/colleagues at their desert hut houses. Before fleeing into the desert where he waits in a game waiting to rendezvous with someone from this resistance/populist uprising group.

And that is all I can remember about the book. If anyone can help me figure out what the book actually is called, so I can get it again and finally finish it. It would be very appreciated.

Thanks

Snuggypie, is this book for young adults/teens or older adults?

Can you tell us more about the main protagonist - his age, family/background/backstory, etc.?

Dylan (dtholmes) | 2 comments I'm still looking for this book. It's been rather tough to figure out what book it is.

It is not the Lodestone Trilogy.
There wasn't any sci-fi elements to this book.
Seemed strictly fantasy to me.

Altogether I will add Lodestone to my reading list it looks good.
