Glen Weissenberger (glenweissenberger) | 33 comments Hi Emma, I have no connection to any of the authors listed above.

May I submit my novel Companions by Contract: A Weissenberger Romantic Suspense Novel, Book Two for this round?

It is a romantic international thriller.

Thank you.

Glen Weissenberger

Wolf DeVoon I saw (apparently) one more reviewer needed.

message 55: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments I'll have a look to see if I can fit Anita in, with the review clashes, that may or may not be possible.
If not, you're first reserve Wolf.

If I don't get the order up today, I'll do it tomorrow. (Got visiting family to do today.)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Hi Anita, I've had a fun half hour or so trying to jiggle things around so you fit in but it isn't possible with the other members who signed up before you having priority and you only having one book.
You'll have to wait for another group, sorry!

Wolf, you're in.

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reads/reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their readers in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to provide and accept PDF. You may buy or borrow the books you are due to read if you wish, and I’m sure the author will appreciate the verified review, but IT IS NOT COMPULSORY. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

All reviews must be posted to GR. We also encourage members to post on amazon .com and .uk. When you have posted your reviews, please post the three links to your reviews, not the book page in this thread.
The mod of each round will record whether members have posted reviews on amazon. I set up all the groups, and for the good of all, members who persistently fail to post reviews or DNF reviews to amazon, will find me less than willing to add them to subsequent groups.

Postings to other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum). Happy reviewing, everyone :)

P.S. This is Layla's first round as a mod. Please be nice folks or I'll be back with my paddle.

And I will continue to do so. You are not involved in this round.

Okay this may seem like a ridiculous question but...

We're supposed to be sending and receiving books per Round One, correct? Do we send to all four people who are supposed to receive the book *now*, or wait until the round is over? I ask because I've received requests from people not listed for me in round one. (Which is fine; I'll send it to anyone.)

So, to be clear...I'm to send my book to Jonah Gibson for Round One, and Glen Weissenberger will send me HIS book for now?

message 71: by Wolf (new)

Wolf DeVoon blush ... I confess to requesting all four, and sending as well, trying to make life easy (for me)

message 72: by Gene, Admin (new)

Gene Kendall | 1206 comments Mod
It's cool, Wolf. Sending all 4 now does make sense. Just wanted to make sure the process is clear, and we all start in the right order.

message 73: by L.N. (new)

L.N. Denison | 1004 comments Do the sending and receiving as you feel comfortable. I for one, prefer to get them all at once...and if you've got KU, it's even better, you can snap them up without having to ask.

message 74: by L.N. (last edited Jan 10, 2017 03:54AM) (new)

L.N. Denison | 1004 comments Also, you don't have to read the books in round order, as long as you read all 4 books. If you do read out of order, just mention it when you post your review links so that I can keep tabs.

message 75: by John (new)

John Newport (jnewport) | 10 comments I was notified that my books link to Amazon is broken. The book is there but you have to search for it.
I've searched but can't find where I can correct the broken link without duplicating the book within the system. I contacted the Librarians to see if they could help.

So if you are willing to buy the book you have to search for it.
Just want to give everyone a heads up that my links are broken.

Shout out to Jonah for letting me know there was problem.

message 76: by L.N. (new)

L.N. Denison | 1004 comments Have you got any of the original copies? The one's you sent to be published. You can send the other authors mobi, PDF or ePub files, if you have them... they don't have to get it through KU.

message 77: by L.N. (new)

L.N. Denison | 1004 comments If you've, at least, got a PDF copy, that will do.

message 78: by John (new)

John Newport (jnewport) | 10 comments Yes I have all original copies of all files (mobi, pub, pdf) that went to publishers. Those that are requesting copies I'm sending them requested versions for the device they have (Kindle, Kobo, iPhone, or generic).

Just frustrating that my link is broken, and wanted to let others know.

message 79: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments For those wanting to post a review of a book with a broken goodreads to amazon link, just copy the name of the book into the amazon search bar. Or go to the author's amazon page and find it from there.

I have a book in the amazon dungeon (I'm soo bad!) and it doesn't come up in a normal search, even if the exact name is posted, but it does come up via my author profile.

message 80: by L.N. (last edited Jan 10, 2017 06:26AM) (new)

L.N. Denison | 1004 comments I feel you, John. I think I know why the link is broken. You need to update the link on Goodreads, because you have two versions of the same book on Amazon, and it looks like the old link is on GR.

message 81: by L.N. (new)

L.N. Denison | 1004 comments Have you recently cancelled a version out on KDP?

message 82: by John (new)

John Newport (jnewport) | 10 comments I didn't go with KDP because of the distribution restriction.

The links are now fixed and the versions are now combined. From what was told to me was the Kindle version was not linked, just the print. Thank you Librarians for such a quick response.

The two version issue is because one of the versions was uploaded by me. The other came from the distributer ($1.99 version). Same content even though the page count is different, weird how they did that.

L.N. Denison | 1004 comments A nice, easy fix =)

I agree with the KU. It makes life so much easier for both author and reviewer. And those are rough times we live in. For ten bucks a month, we can have a bit of easiness. (And bury ourselves in as many books as we want if needed.)

message 85: by L.N. (new)

L.N. Denison | 1004 comments I use it all the time, and it helps boost the royalties of my fellow authors.

message 86: by Marie-Jo (new)

Marie-Jo Fortis | 114 comments I meant to add that. Forgot. Thanks for mentioning it, L.N.!

message 87: by L.N. (new)

L.N. Denison | 1004 comments I know it's not much, but every page turned is another penny earned.

message 88: by W.T. (new)

W.T. Fallon (wtfallon) | 31 comments I believe I have sent my book to everyone who was supposed to get one, and have received all the books I'm supposed to read. If I have missed anyone, please message me and I'll get it straightened out. I'll get started reading right away.

message 89: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments If I enjoy a book I also tend to 'like' the four and five star reviews. This helps those reviews rise to the top of this list on both amazon and goodreads.

I tend to do that as well, and finding a review helpful on Amazon should have the same effect.

Laurette Long | 200 comments Sorry folks I appear to have dozed off...all messages now received, replies, addresses, and pdfs on their way, Please note Hot Basque is also on Kindle Unlimited so anyone who's a member can just 'borrow' it for free as per comments above. Also thanks for reminder to 'like' reviews Emma and LN, good point.
Looking forward to meeting you all in prose...
Happy reading!

message 92: by Laurette (new)

Laurette Long | 200 comments Hi Emma and L.N. Sorry to ask a question which may have been thrashed out before. If I’ve understood correctly, (Emma's message Dec 18) Amazon is not hot on authors supplying published books in return for reviews:
“The new Amazon rules state that authors/publishers are no longer allowed to specifically supply published books in return for reviews on amazon. To comply with this new rule, we no longer insist members review on amazon. However, we are all in the same situation, we want reviews”
BUT if one of the authors we are assigned to review does send us a gift copy of the book, we can still post a review on Amazon (they are important I think) so long as we put the following disclaimer:
“I received a free copy from the author without an obligation to review”
(Just trying to navigate the Amazon jungle without getting eaten by crocodile robots.)
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I've just read the comment thread that was started around this issue. It would appear that the only problem is if you put 'in exchange for a review', instead of what you have suggested. I think everything else is fine, as we don't engage in giving reciprocal reviews, as the guidelines are suggesting. I hope that made sense =).
