This is every true, and I should know, having received mixed reviews myself...you either love or hate my work, but either way, I don't mind the odd bad review. It shows that it isn't just friends and family who are rating your work =). Not that any of my friends have read my work haha...they daren't!

No one is asking anyone to condone anything in a book.... i have read and review books that I dont like the story and I dont feel like I should condone anything but I still try to respectful to another author ...honest but not uncharitable....honest but not condescending..... no one has ever come back to me and say I was brutal or condescending with my reviews ... yes an author can get bad reviews but it seems that most bad reviews are from goodreads authors, the thing is that goodreads authors really dont buy books nor do they help to sell another person's books. Goodreads regular reviewers read a book and review it even if they dont like it and give it a low star, their comments are still respectful but not brutal...a review can be honest but not brutal or condescending ...but my experience is that authors on goodreads who review tend to be brutal to books of others....so since goodreads authors dont buy books nor do they help to sell my books i see no point in participating....

Hi Erin, what you need to do, is look out for when a new round starts, and add your name to the list. 10 authors are needed to start a group. This one is already in full swing, but keep an eye out for the next one =)
