Make sense? "

Yes, that makes sense.

annapi | 5505 comments Ok, if this has been asked and I missed it, sorry - but for the series tag, if I pick it for Step 5, do all the books I read have to belong to the same series? Or can I read any book as long as it belongs to a series, and so read 5 books all from different series?

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Karin, you just need to announce the stairs before you start the challenge. I would say any time in January is reasonable (or even later should a new member decide to join the challenge). You are on an honor system to participate how you think is fair, and you have good judgment.

Jennifer, you do not need to decide the High Notes challenge books in advance.

Annapi, no, all of the books on the series step do not need to be from the same series. They all just need to be books from any series, and can be any numbered book in that series (so, they do not all have to be the start of the series).

AJ, to compete in the challenges, you just need to participate! Most members start a personal tracking thread where they keep track of reads for the PBT Challenges as well as any other reading challenges they are participating in. We keep these threads in the "Member Challenge Tracking 2017" folder, so feel free to check out how some members track and then start your own thread :)

For everyone, these challenges are for fun and while we have some guidelines to give them structure and uniformity, they are largely based on the honor system. They do not come with huge prizes, just the satisfaction of completing them and maybe some participation points. So, have fun and I promise the Rules Police will not be inflicting corporal punishment ;)

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Oh, and AJ, you just post your stair selections in the personal tracking thread you start.

Thanks, I'll post first for sure. I am going to print out the pertinent info and work on it tomorrow and/or Monday. I have very little driving to do for those two days (hooray!).

ETA I might even choose tonight since we're having a quiet night.

Sabrina (wordstained) | 290 comments I'm looking forward to both challenges. :)

Cora (corareading) | 1921 comments I was going to add the book I read for the Climb the PBT Stairs to the group shelf, but I did not see a shelf/tag for it yet so thought I would ask here first. Are we supposed to add them to the groups shelves for these challenges, if so what shelf/tag should we use?

Oops! Sorry, Cora! You are correct. I should have added the tags in, but somehow, it just didn't occur to me! Thank you for trying to add your book and for mentioning it. I will go add the tags now!

LibraryCin | 11681 comments Ok, tags for both of this year's annual challenges are now added. Got one added, then had about a 10 minute break before I could add the 2nd one because GR kept bringing back errors again, like on New Year's Day. Shades of shelfari... :-(

You can set up your own thread for your challenges.

Also, there are already threads set up, one for Climbing the PBT Stairs and one for Hitting the PBT High Notes. I can find links.

LibraryCin | 11681 comments To get to the folder for individual challenge tracking, where you would set up your own thread, you have to click "More Discussions" at the bottom of the main page.

Or, here is a link to the entire folder:

The thread for Climbing the PBT Stairs is here:

And for Hitting the PBT High Notes:
