Oh, Oh, Oh, Jane! I went from crying big, fat, round tears to gasping in hope, relief, and joy! Wow! Hugs

“And keep your eyes open for a dragon on a Harley Davidson.”Constable Willet stopped in his tracks.
“A what?”
The desk sergeant looked up from his computer.
“You heard me.”
Outside the station, the young policeman looked down at his partner. Badger cocked an ear.
“What’s your problem?”
“Dragons can't ride motorcycles.”
The canine cop stopped in his tracks.
“You may have a point.”
Willet grinned.
“See, I'm not completely stupid.”
He wasn't to know what Badger thought of that because the distinctive note of a Harley Davidson engine split the air. The motorcycle careered around the corner, rearing up onto one wheel and mounting the pavement before hurtling down the road bouncing off street furniture as it went.
Badger sat back on his haunches.
“That proves your point. Dragons really can't ride motorbikes.”
Willet grasped Badger’s harness in one hand as he unfurled his wings.
“Operation intercept,” he said happily as they took to the air.
It didn't take long to overhaul the motorcycle, as the riding became more and more eccentric with the Harley yawing from side to side and scraping its footrests at every movement. When they caught up, it had just made a sharp left onto a mercifully deserted football pitch. Willet made a long arm and pulled out the kill switch. The engine died and the bike slewed to a halt before slowly toppling over onto its side. The stubby golden dragon just managed to slip from the saddle in time to avoid being trapped by the fallen machine.
Badger gave the rider a very stern look.
“What's on here, my laddo,” he said firmly.
“Steady down Badger. It's only a hatchling. And I don't think it's a laddo.”

Quicker than thought she shifted razor-sharp talons and wickedly pointed dragonish teeth, and leapt for his unprotected throat. He caught her mid leap and bore her to the ground where they struggled for dominance panting and swearing at each other as they tore and bit and scratched. But then the texture of their breathing changed as the master dragon roughly pushed his mate's skirts aside.
Their mating was as fierce as their fight had been, and when they lay spent in a heap A'a'shanto smiled his fierce dragon smile
"T'i'asharath," he groaned from deep within his draconic soul. "T'i'asharath, my mate, and the other half of my being."
The female dragon laid her face against his chest and he felt the dampness of tears. He said nothing and when she lifted her head her eyes were like deep ice-fed mountain streams.
"Tia is no more," she said stonily, "there is only T'i'asharath now. I hope it will have been worth it."
A'a'shanto gathered her into his arms.
"It will, my heart. I know the change is hurtful, but you will soon forget the pain."

Wow... I totally would, but I have a hard time enough just making myself do shorts! lol Flash fic scares the living daylights out of me! ha! I so admire people who can make stories work at that tiny amount, but I just can't do it. However, I can always cross-promote! Love you and E.M. to bits! So can I still be your Friday friend? :P

Great looking blog, Jane! I've started on a few flash fictions a while ago. So I'll finish them and polish them off and see if its worth putting on your lovely blog. Thanks for sharing!
I might have something! I wrote a little prologue to a story I may get around to writing sometime in the next thirty years. If I clean it up a bit, it could be flash. I'll work it over and email you my submission for your approval.

I have a very short story that I wrote ages ago but it still has not found its way into anything I've published. I think it will work well. It may be too long, but could easily be shortened. I will take a look at it in the next couple of days and see what I can do.
Happy Clown Burger stories are about five hundred words too long, though. Ah, well.

Her swollen ankles throbbed, and the stranger in her belly moved so that a small hand or foot could briefly be seen pressing the loose linen of her robe. She felt a tear run down her face and wiped it away with her dusty fingers.
“Oh my love,” she said bitterly, “what of your promise now? Did you not vow to be mine for all our days?”
