I was listening to another series read by January LaVoy and I looked up what other books she has be the narrator for. This one came up and it seemed like it would be interesting to read and as a bonus it fit nicely into this week!

I was reading my daughter a bedtime story and I saw ot on her shelf and thought "I'll read that."
Could you guess what happens in the book from this one word? Possibly. Not in it's entirety but a basic, round-about guess. Especially if you are familiar with the character from DisneyWorld.

I love memoirs and real-life adventure stories, and this sounded like a good marriage of the two!

No. (And without the cover, I wouldn't even have known what it meant, to be honest.) But I think it is a very beautiful and striking title nonetheless.

The word sounds so much like carnival, which the book is set in a sort of magical carnival type setting. This is known from the synopsis so basically yes you know the premise of the story from the title.

Brandon Sanderson has become one of my new favourite authors. It was a good spot to slip in a new to me series by him.

It was the longest single word title on my TBR. Also, I was interested in the idea of what the world would be like if the Nazis had won WWII.

Not really. I later looked it up and found out the word's meaning to slaves in America... upon death, one's spirit will go back to Africa.
