I have been on 100% before but I didn't get anything :(

Oh I'm glad! Seeing that I was one book away and then added another 8 haha

That happens to me all the time too! But I restrained myself once to see what happens and nothing happened!

p.s.I just requested another book so I probably won't see the 100% ratio this time :P

message 156: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Heheeh. Well at least now I know I don't need to feel bad for sitting only around 70%.

Thanks, Sassafrass. I can't stand when I get books that I can't send to my Kindle because then I need to read them on my old, clunky laptop, which weighs a ton. My newer laptop has some weird glitch in the program I use to read them. Plus, they expire! If you don't read them in time, they disappear. It's usually books with pictures, cookbooks, etc. and those are books that I'd like to keep to refer to. For this one, there were yoga poses and sequences that I might try, but they will be gone soon.

I have a similar issue. I find the options for changing font size etc. aren't there, I have to use my tablet to read them which is a bit annoying seeing that I don't take it out of the house, and the expiry puts all this pressure on me to finish it in time!
With any luck one day Netgalley will show that the format is before we decide to request something

NetGalley Review

Your Cholesterol Matters review

I was hoping to finish one more this month, but I'm a bit behind and may not get to it. I'm pretty happy with my progress this month. I am up to 92%!

That's why I decided to mention it to the publisher. NetGalley may not tell us, but the publishers can. I've seen other publishers add a little note that it is not available for Kindle download.

message 161: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (mvalente89) | 1026 comments I have three books that are protected PDF format and due to laptop issues, I can't read them. Rather than have them sit forever unread (which they have been for months already), I'm wondering if I should just send feedback apologizing but stating that as I can't send them to Kindle, I can't read them.

message 162: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I would, Melanie. Just let them know that you were unaware that they weren't available as Kindle downloads and you don't have the ability to read them. That's exactly why they should state that upfront.

message 163: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Definitely do that, Melanie. It's something I've done before. And it's feedback so it won't hurt your percentage score either :)

message 164: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (mvalente89) | 1026 comments Thanks, Kristie and Nicole, I think I'll do that. I would have read them if they had the Kindle format option and definitely wish they would put that out there upfront that it isn't available that way. But at this point, I've had them several months and I hate to see them hurting my feedback ratio when I can't read them.

Yes, I agree, I would do that. I've had to do that with two books now where the PDF just wouldn't work

message 166: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 465 comments I don't know if I should be doing/saying this or if this is like illegal or something but I read protected PDFs on my phone & if it's expired I change the date on my phone to about two-three weeks before it expires & am able to read it. . .

message 167: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Hhaahha oh no that's just awesome Michelle. What a great idea!

message 168: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Brilliant! lol

message 169: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments So, I went ahead and requested 2 more books. I seem to keep myself with around 8 on my shelf. My goal is to be closer to 2 at any given time so that I can finish them faster, but I can't seem to help myself. lol I hope I don't get them until February, as I'm having a really good NetGalley month. :)

I requested these two: The Trophy Child by Paula Daly Never Let You Go by Chevy Stevens

message 170: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I was already approved for The Trophy Child! That was the fastest approval ever. lol Well, I'm back to 91%.

Karen ⊰✿ | 16594 comments Mod
91% is a great ratio to keep Kristie!

message 172: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Thanks, Karen. It is, but it's takes me a while to read the books and I feel like they're on my shelf too long, which is why I want fewer on my shelf. I keep requesting though! Oh well, that's the fun of it, I suppose. :)

message 173: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I dream of the day when I only have 8 books on shelf. But this month I reckon I requested more than that alone.

message 174: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Haha... I'd have a lot more if I was a faster reader. I'm slowly inching my way closer to having just a couple on there.

Same here Kristie. A good month is reading 2-3 netgalley books so I don't like having more than around 8 on my shelf

I'm just happy if I'm able to keep it under 10 books xD

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Random question:
Any chance of another special NetGalley challenge for Gem Coins? So far it looks like this (January 2017) has been the only one.

ETA: And if you *do* run another special NG challenge for Coins, I hope there will be a different target, maybe graded on a curve depending on one’s current totals and ratios. Some of us are at the point where a 5% increase would be the equivalent of like 25 books (and even getting up to 95% would be about 20 books, without requesting any news ones, LOL) :D

Thanks!
