And the Trees Crept In

The overall atmosphere. The book is about two sisters who show up at their aunt's creepy house, which seems to be cursed. A lot of weird things happen, including the trees from the surrounding woods seeming to get closer each night.

I'm a coward when it comes to horror, but I like psychological thrillers.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy

This is a post apocalyptic novel set in the US where animals are extinct, it snows gray ash, and food is nearly impossible to come by. Absolutely one of the bleakest settings I've ever read about.

- Do you usually read books that tend to be unsettling? (horror, thriller, weird...) I started out reading a lot of horror books when I was a teenager - specifically Dean Koontz. I also read a lot of Mary Higgins Clark and some Stephen King. I haven't read those types of books in a long time. I've read some psychological thrillers but that is mostly it. I've been thinking about reading some more Stephen King and I'd like to try his son Joe Hill.

Everything! The title, the setting (Wyoming in November, in a snow storm), and the content - missing people, spookiness, murder and conspiracy.

Some, but they're not my favourite. I loved that kind of thing as a teenager, but not so much now.
