Possibly the final update of 2017, unless I can fit a (very) short read in sometime today. Depends on how the day goes. We're in Hampshire for a few days and though I wasn't expecting to visit any Austen-related places on this occasion, we're off to The Vyne today, a country house dating back to Tudor times and in the parish where Jane's elder brother James was vicar. Jane and Cassandra visited and attended balls there and James' son married a cousin from the Chute family that used to own it. Apparently there's also a Tolkien connection, as there is (or was) an engraved Anglo-Saxon age ring there that had a legend associated with it, cursing anyone who possessed it. Tolkien, as an expert on that era, was asked to look at it and it was not long afterwards that he began to compose the works we know as The Lord of the Rings.
77. Dangerous to Know: Jane Austen's Rakes & Gentlemen Rogues edited by Christina Boyd
78. Mr. Darcy's Christmas Present: The Madness of Mr. Darcy Continues by Alexa Adams - read as unpublished but the file was sent to me by Sheila.
79. A Forever Kind of Love: A Pride & Prejudice Novella by Christie Capps
I'm going to see if I've got another short one on my Kindle that I can fit in to make it a nice round total number for the year.
