I have two questions for you:
How did you get the idea for Fangirl?
Also, what do you think is one quality/trait that is shared among all of the characters in your books?
Thank you so much, you are such an amazing author!
Annaliese

My question is: If you could go anywhere, do anything with anyone, fictional or real, living or dead, where would you go and who with?

Writer's block is such a common thing for authors and many have different ways of getting rid of it, how do you get rid of writer's block?

Thank you! You're my favorite author (and quite possibly my favorite person) ever!
Gabrielle Farrell

How you manage to keep your characters so real?
Do your characters have certain character traits that you admire in a person?

First let me say that I absolutely loved both Eleanor & Park and Fangirl. I can relate to Cather so much, it's scary. My question is about Fangirl, and it's this: do you think that Cath will eventually start talking with her mom again? Because to be honest, I would not blame her if she never did.

I really enjoyed you book Fangirl and can't wait to read your other books! Do you think you would ever write an inspirational book?
Thanks
Jaylen

I just wanted to say that I really liked Fangirl. I have started reading fanfiction, it's interesting to see the different takes people have on the charecters they love. Was there any fanfiction you read during the process for this book?

i have read Fangirl and i also like it very much. i know there's mo question here, but i have just finished reading Eleanor & Park for the fifth time and wanted to say i´m a big fan! :)

As I just mentioned, Eleanor & Park is just beautiful, actually one of my favorite books and it warmed my heart so much that I wanted to read more, it was not enough): are you going to write a sequel to that book? cause I would really really like to know what happens!

I have read all of your intriguing and beautiful writing, and am always ready for anymore books you throw our way. I was particularly interested by Simon Snow and Basil's story from Fangirl, and I was wondering if you have any future plans to write about their story or give us the fanfic Cather wrote. I would be really interested if you decide to write one books from the Simon Snow series. Thank you so much for writing from the stand point of a fanfiction reader, and I am excited to read any future books.

I've read all of your books (so far) and I absolutely love each and every one of them in their own ways. I just wanted to know a) how you came up with the unique story ideas for your books, b) how you can transition between your teen characters and your adult characters, and c) how you deal with writer's block. Thanks so much and I can't wait to get my hands on Landline!

I love reading all of your books, so my question here would be, are you currently writing a new book ?
If so, what's it going to be about ? Thanks ❤️

To fight and explore each other like Eleanor & Park;
To be annoyed and accepted like Cath & Levi.
Rainbow Rowell, can you please write me my dysfunctional love story?

So, I wanted to know some of your favorite books and I would also enjoy if you tell me who inspired you to create Cath because I can relate a lot with her.
I love you for writing these books, thank you.

I'm in love with Eleanor and Park and its one of my favorite book :))
And i think it needs to be on the same shelf as The Fault in Our Stars (which is another book i love). Also, I think students should be reading this in every English class :)
Thank you so much for writing your lovely book :))
Sincerely
Your Fan :)

xxxxx, have a good day!

I'd love to know what's the 3 words at the end of the novel? which btw is a cliffhanger. And is there a sequel of Eleanor and Park? I just love the characters you've created. Much appreciated if i can can a reply. Thanks! <3

I read all your books and I can't wait for this new one to be on sale!
My favorite book is Eleanor and Park. I think I read it like 5 times already and my question is: Have you ever consider the possibility of a sequel novel for E&P?
OMG! That would be so cool if Eleanor and Park had a sequel:).

I've read all of your books except Landline but my friend is giving me a copy as a gift. Yey!
But... I wonder if Eleanor & Park has a sequel? What was that 3 words? Tell me. I can't sleep. Really.
I love you ( I guess it's not)
I am sorry
I'll be back
Thank you Park
I miss you
What? What? What?
Don't tell me it's Happy New Year?
I'm sorry. I was too attached.

2. Going off of the descriptions you've given of your husband on twitter, it seems that Kai and Neal share some traits. How much of Georgie's family did you base on your own, and was it strange for them to read their characters?
3. Do Georgie and Seth get Passing Time?

So far I have only read Fangirl and Eleanor & Park, but I have Attachments on my shelf ready to read after my summer reading:(
I know you grew up in Omaha and all of your books take place in Omaha. Are there specific places you include in your books that are significant in your childhood?
Do you have any strange writing habits or rituals?
Lastly how did you come up with Levi? He is just too perfect! I'm in love!
Thank you,
Payton

I feel like expressing that I'm a huge fan of your work is a total understatement, and if I could shower you with compliments for days I totally would. But I'll refrain from such behavior and get to my question.
I recently read an article on BuzzFeed where you discussed that the first draft of your newest book, which is fantasy YA, was submitted. Do you think a book tour will follow its release? Also, how will this book relate and contrast to your previous works?

I love love love Fangirl! Out of all your books thus far, it has really been a book geared towards my teenage fangirl ways. I was wondering if you wrote fan fiction in the past and what was it? Also, do you follow any current fan fiction? Last, how would you feel about fans writing fan fiction based off your work? Okay and maybe one more...are you or have you ever considered yourself a fangirl?
Thank you and keep writing these awesome stories!
Amy

P.S. Your books are my fave and you are AWESOME! :)

I would love to hear you talk about issues of geography and space in your novels, and specifically about the regional character of your writing. It seems to me that you are giving a literary life to Nebraska in your work. Is this intentional? Something that can't be helped? How do you approach this issue of "place" when you write?

I'm actually going to be a freshman in college in a couple of weeks and the only thing that's keeping me from freaking out is what I know from Fangirl! I was wondering if you based her college experience on your own and if college really will be something like that?
But really, I love you!

Thanks! I thought I'd get and early start on the chat because on vacation in Scotland, typing on my phone. Please forgive me for any bizarre typos ...
I don't really have a preference, from a writing perspective. I decide what I'm going to write based on whatever idea I'm most interested in, and then I talk to my agent and editor about whether it will be marketed as YA or adult.
That said, I really enjoy talking to teenagers. And writing YA means I get to talk to them and meet them and hear their point of view. They're such passionate readers!

Thank you!
You know, I don't think about the switch. I think about the specific character and what the world looks like from her perspective. If you're inside the character, you naturally write from her age level.
