Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2017!

Thank you! I haven't narrowed down where to start, but I have several books already waiting around here for me to start with. :)
Happy New Year to everyone!

My goal for 2017 is to read 40 books. Real life often intrudes and it likely will in 2017 as well, but that is the target, only time will tell if it is something I can actually accomplish or not.
I hope everyone has a great New Year and an awesome 2017!

This group looks like a great gathering of people who read voraciosly. I am so glad to be a part of it!

My name Ashlee
My age 24 soon to be 25 (10 days)
Types of books I read YA, Romance, Action, anything that intrigues me really.
How I found this group and why I joined I found this group browsing through the groups on the site, I joined because I think it might help me stay on track with my 2017 reading challenge.
My reading challenge goal 48 books

Call me Constance :) I'm from Belgium, I'm 23 and, well, I loved reading when I was a kid. With time passing, I had gradually distanced myself from the books so dear to me, but I've been rediscovering the pleasure I had when I was little.
I pledged to read 120 books in 2016, which was most certainly too ambitious. Nevertheless, I managed to finish 30 books, which is more than 3 times the amount I read in 2015.
For 2017, I pledge to read 50 books.
I enjoy a great variety of reading, and I won't want to limit myself too much. I've got a couple of biographies, journals and correspondence I'd like to finish. I've been offered a couple of books from Japanese author Junichirô Tanizaki, and, really, many other books. I'm probably going to finish books for my thesis as well, so, that counts. I also want to read more comics in the year to come. Self-help books are good, I read a lot of them in 2015 but I feel that I've grown somewhat bored of that genre.
Anyways, I'll try to focus my 2017 reading on finding peace and pleasure in its process.
Happy reading everyone !
Hello. I'm Emma from Warrington, England. I've been on Goodreads now for a couple of years and am a member of a couple of groups but this one sounded great for in terms of keeping track of the books I've read and the challenges I want to keep up with. I read a lot of Young Adult, particularly different types of fantasy, dystopia and historical fiction, but I also love classics, crime/mysteries, autobiographical fiction, and historical non-fiction (Victorians, Home Front during WWI+II...). I'll also read in French from time to time.
My 2016 reading goal was 55 books and surpassed it with 80 (not including some re-reads). This year I upped it to 60 just because I do like a goal that's manageable and is by no means pressured, especially if I get hit with a reading slump.

I read... well, everything, usually in English or German, but I just started to read Harry Potter in Danish.
I've set my goal to 100 books, but I have no real idea whether that's enough... Might be that I'll read some more, I've never counted how much I read... We'll see!

My goal is to read 50 books this year. (Hopefully more)
I came across this group when I was looking for recommendations on books and a way to keep up my 2017 goal.

I'm Bijan and I'm from Iran. My favorite genres include Science-Fiction, Speculative Fiction, Fiction, Fantasy, Murder/Mystery, Romance, and of course well-written Erotica.
I've wanted to join a group to get inspiration for my annual reading challenges. I've searched a lot and found this group.
Last year my goal was to read 100 books, and I achieved only 58% percent of it. This year my goal is the same, but I want to beat myself and get more than 58% by the end of the year.

I read quite fast, but my university stuff is keeping me busy, so I set myself a goal of 75 books this year. Hope I can do it and maybe even more!
Feel free to add me as a friend, I'm also new on Goodreads and could definitely use new friends! C:

Will try to keep the same amount. 30 books tough for me with my other passion of knitting!!! I have a ton of books "want to read"and I'm hoping to keep my goal and maybe pass it this year. Happy New Year to all and hope it's a happy & healthy to all! Happy Reading
Jody!

I thought it'd be fun to join the challenge this year! 52 books is my goal, I'm looking forward to surpass that number :D let's see how it goes.

I really love books because i love adding to my knowledge i love many types of books...in fact i read whatever i find exept oerhaps books that i dont like their writers...and books that are written to benefit some governmental porpuses...
I found this group cuz i was searching for a challenging group and this one looked the best
And my goal is to expand my mind and my understandin of the world so i may read philosophy or a novel or an engineering book!!! I dont know how many books i will read in 2017 but i hope its not less than 20!!!

I wish to all of you great reading in 2017!

I prefer fantasy over any other genre. Like many people, I found this group randomly through goodreads as well.
Thanks for letting me in the group!

I am Dorottya, from Hungary,
I remembered seeing a group for the 2016 reading challenges last year, but it was too late to join and last year was not a good reading year for me, because I had to get accustomed to start living an adult life, 9-to-5 work, having to do a lot more housework.
This year, I want to amp up my reading, mainly by 2 means: 1) reading more (substantially more - 75 instead of 55), 2) giving little challenges to myself. I thought joining a book club like this would give me even more motivation and would be a good way to track my readings, get recommendations, get ideas on how to improve my reading (of course,to an extent that still does not make my reading experience a "must" rather than enjoyment). The little challenges I give myself this year come in a form of a TBR jar, but there are "challenges", not book titles written in them. Some lighter, some posing a little bit of a challenge. Other than that, my main goals for this year: reading a bit more of fine literature and adult books with deeper themes plus reading at least 2 books which were not written by Hungarian, US or UK authors.
My favourite genres to read are adult fiction and psychological thrillers, but I also read YA, all sorts of romances (I love romance, but I don't always find good ones), historical fiction.

I'm Angie, from Texas. I'm 52. Been married for almost 36 years to Lester. I have 3 + 2 kids and 5 grandkids. I am a Christian Author (Jesus Loves Us Even Though... ) and a reviewer for books of all genres. I love my job because it means I get to do what I love. READ!
This last year, 2016, I read 54 books. That is NOT a personal high for me. However, I thought it was pretty good considering I moved across the country in July and am JUST NOW getting settled again. I was raised in Texas and I love it. But, spent the last 13 years in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm home again in Texas and it's wonderful.
This year, I PLAN to read 60 to 70 books. We'll see if I can pull that off. I thought when I retired I'd have all manner of time to read. That has NOT been the case. I seem busier now than I've ever been. I'm going to give this the old college try, though.
Good luck to each of you in your own personal goals!

I am Monica, 29 years old and from Denmark.
I completed my goal of 30 books last year, so this year I'm adding another 10.
It might be difficult since I am a new mom, but I like to challenge myself :)
Happy reading to all of you!

I am Gaia and I am becoming a Psychologist this semester. I love reading, traveling and dining-enjoying the refined pleasures in life. I love being mindful and having joy to breath and live! I love books, and I will be updating my goodreads profile once I have the time to list all of them.
Nice to meet you!

I enjoy a range of genres: biographies, fiction, academic books (I'm studying), anything to do with writing, suspense and thrillers although not too freaky (I don't do Stephen King) although I am hooked on his work "On Writing". I also like metaphysical books and read a lot of Christian self-help books - like how not to be a nitwit when you don't have to be :) as well as the classics. In fact Stephen King is the only author not on my pleasure-reading lists and only because he totally freaks me out with his exquisite writing and descriptions of all things scary. I love his writing (in other works). In short if a book is written well and has a reasonable plot and plausible characters I'll read it.
I found the group when searching for a group such as this one: did the google search trick and there you all were - waiting. Thank you for being there to fill my gap. This year's goal is 15 books which doesn't include the academic reading because that isn't relaxing for me.
So that's it from me. Looking forward to being able to keep track of my reading as part of the 2017 Around the World trip. My first country is Austria as I'm reading Man's Search for Meaning by Austrian author Viktor Frankl.

I am Mohamed 22 years old and I am from Cairo, Egypt. Honestly I am new to the reading field. I have books in Religion but I am too lazy to read them . Its like I read 4 pages per 2 months like that. I took my initiative to start reading again actually from a video on the Youtube that was talking about how to make a new friends and go out of my comfort zone. One thing that the video mentioned is to start reading about everything to know how to open a discussion with your friends. I found your group by browsing goodreads groups' section and after I saw the 2017 challenge made by goodreads so the name of your group attracted my eyes. I like reading History, Religion, Fiction. My goal this year to start reading in Horror, Science, Fantasy or Fiction. Thank you.

I found this group while looking for ideas to add to my new list for this year. I was going to combine several challenge lists to make my own, but still just choosing "some" of them to finish this year.
My goal last year was to read 20 of the books on my "list" of 52 (I counted everything I read, but tried to pick from my list), and I read 11, I believe. I think my goal this year will be 12, and that is somewhat ambitious so we will see...
I work two jobs as a school counselor, and I am a mom to 3 girls including one with autism. My other favorite hobby is birding.
