Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2017!

I'm Lauren. I live in France but am British. I read in French and English and belong to 2 book clubs, one in each language.
I will read almost anything but for sci fi and fantasy but I particularly like detective fiction.
As for challenges, just getting through my book club books is enough. Anything else is a bonus.

My name is Chantal and I´m from Germany.
I really like to read fantasy books and I want to read 40 books in 2017.
By the way, I hope my English is good enough :-) .

Berlin I don't like anymore.
I had a research in FU Düppel.
40 books a year ... good!

Hello there!
I'm Loren K., I'm from Argentina. I joined Goodreads last year, but I have to admit I didn't know how to use it well. My goal last year was 15 books, if I'm not mistaked, but since I joined at half of last year I submited the goal I wanted for the end of the year. Before those 15 I had read another 15.
So, this is way, my goal this year is 40 books. So, fingers crossed, because is February already and I'm already left behind!
I like thriller and terror stories (like Poe or Lovecraft), science fiction novels, fantasy and humor books.
I'm also a writer, and my goal as a writer is to re-activate the activity in my blog, that I had to abandone because of my career and work last year. I invite you to pass by, and because I know there must be so many writers here, I would love to visit your writing blog too!

Nice to meet you all!

I joined Goodreads in 2015. I like reading very much, I continue to read more books every year. Last year I completed my personal challenge to read 50 books, I end up with 86 books read in 2016. So, I'm going to make 80 books to be read in 2017 as my personal challenge. After finishing a book, I try to write a review in my personal blog. You can visit to check out my reading.

Hi Dian, salam kenal. I enjoy non-fiction book as well especially philosophy, history and memoir. I wanted to read Tipping point since last year but I still haven't touch that book and still sprawled on my bookshelf. I will read it shortly. :)
If you like memoir or autography I can recommend you my two favorite memoirs of 2016, those are What I Talk About When I talk About Running (Haruki Murakami) and Seven Good Years (Etgar Keret). Those are magnificent

my name is Nina and I am from Germany.
I am currently doing my phD in chemistry and have quite limited reading time.
I joined the group because I love the reading challenge on Goodreads and try to set myself a goal for some years now.
I would love to take part in more challenges as it motivates me to read a lot more.
I am not big in reviews, i often only rate the books i read, and that has to change!
I hope i will learn that during the year and through the discussions in this group.
I love thrillers, historical fiction, fantasy and some classics every now and then.
I also like to read or evenmore listen to young adult books, escpecially on my walk to work (big recommendation here, it has a major impact on the amount of books i read)
I am not big into science fiction or romance.
Hope to read you soon,
Greating nina

I hope I will gain a thousand benefits through Goodreads.it nice to know you all.

Check out my shelves and let me know if you have any suggestions! My shelves are pretty short since I just added this app like 4 days ago lol

I'd like to recommend Animal Farm and 1984, both written by George Orwell, if you haven't read them yet.

I'm Rodrigo, from Guadalajara, Mexico.
I really like to read and for this year I set my challenge to 20 books, but my main goal is to read at least 35. So far, I'm at my 5th book (hooray!)
I'm new in goodreads groups and I think this group would be good for many of us who want to meet up a reading challenge.
Lately I've been really into japanese novels, mostly from Natsume Soseki. If any of you have recommendations of other japanese authors, feel free to tell me (:
I also would like to read more about art and mexican history this year.

My favourite genres are fantasy, magical realism and mystery. Last year my goal was to read 50 books, and managed 107. This year my goal is 80 books.
I found this challenge through Goodreads friends. I plan to take part in some activities, starting with reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy with the group in February.

I have been around Goodreads for some time now but joined a group only this year. I love to read, especially fantasy both epic and light, but wouldn't turn down a good romance or thriller either. My favorite book is actually 2:)) - The Shadow Queen and Shalador's Lady by Anne Bishop. Right now I am reading the works of Robin Hobb - just finished Royal Assassin today - and I love them. I have never really counted the books I'm normally reading but they are many. I've set my goal for this year at 120 books. My first reading challenge ever and I don't really know if I'll be able to do it but I like challenges and I'll give it a try. I have read 15 so far so yey!!..I might be able to do it.

I have also discovered booktube, which is an excellent source of book recommendations. I’m always very keen on discovering what has been released recently! Unfortunately my tbr list keeps growing faster than the amount of finished books I manage to read.
I used to read compulsively but lately due to work and life commitments I was struggling to read books on a regular basis. As a resolution for this year I wish to read at least a book once a week (52) and rediscover my love for books. To date I’m quite satisfied with my progress. This might be the only resolution I might end up keeping! I am actually hoping that I might end up reading more books than that but I didn’t want to raise the bar too high.
I would enjoy any book recommendations - I like reading practically everything but my favourite genres are psychological thrillers, crime and fantasy.

Amanda wrote: "Hello :) My name is Amanda. I come from a tiny island in Europe, called Malta. I have been a member of Goodreads for a few years but I’ve only started using it on a frequently basis in the past few..."
I have started a topic where we can share booktuber recommendations!

Cheers ya'll and happy reading!

I am Nandana and I am new here. I knew about goodreads from my friend and was curious. I really wish 2017 be a happy reading year for me. Happy to be connected!

I'm Krista and I'm from Finland. I love reading, especially English classics. I'm always looking for my next book, the next great find.
I'm starting out with a goal of 12 this year. A book a month should be very easy, even with my current busy schedule. I'm looking forward to reading new books and discussing them with all of you!
See you on the discussion boards!

I am from Singapore and stumbled upon this group while reading about Zahra's Paradise. I loved your shelf of books and would love to interact more with like-minded readers.
I mostly read literary fictions, fantasy, and detective novels. However quite recently I have been introduced to the amazing world of graphic novels and am totally loving it. My reading goal set for 2017 is 40 but hope to make a 50 at least :)

I've been on Goodreads for many years now, but this is my first time joining the challenge group. My goal this year is 42 books. I'd actually love to read more, but I have 4 kids, two of which are 2 or under. So, we'll see how it goes!
I read fantasy books almost exclusively, but I'm also hoping to sneak a few new types in this year.

My goal for the year is to read 25 books, if not more. I am excited to join this group and all it has to offer!

I'm Melanie and I'm a librarian from Florida. I primarily read YA fiction and biographies/memoirs (I particularly enjoy listening to these as audiobooks), but I also enjoy reading bestsellers (especially thrillers), horror, paranormal fiction, classics, fantasy, sci-fi, juvenile fiction, etc. I'll read pretty much anything and I'm always open to suggestions!
Though I've been a member of Goodreads since 2012, I actually found this group via PopSugar. A friend sent me the link for the 2017 Reading Challenge, and I decided to search Goodreads for the challenge. It lead me to this group, so here I am!
My overall goal is to complete the PopSugar 2017 Reading Challenge; all 52 books, including the Advanced challenge. For 2017 in general, I would like to read 75 books (25 more than my 2016 Goodreads goal). I'm also looking forward to joining in more discussions and seeing what everyone is reading and enjoying (or not enjoying; equally as important!) and just generally broadening my reading horizons.

Writer, Cat Lover, English Teacher--I'm currently moving through Eastern Europe, looking for the X that marks the spot.
I'll read 30 books this year, including the rest of the Shirley Jackson cannon, and more Pulitzer and Booker winners.
I'm also trying to catch on to the Twitter craze (late comer).
Come follow me @ #MWertenberg

When I'm not reading or doing school work, I love knitting, baking, and hanging out with my kitty, Margot.

My name is Myra and I am from Pakistan!
I love reading most genres of fiction - with the exception of horror and books about war. I tend to lean towards fantasy and magical realism - however i want to definitely expand my horizons in 2017! My reading goal for 2017 is to read 100 books ! (quite ambitious for someone with a full time job). But I love escaping to a different world, it gives me peace.
I look forward to meeting new people who share the same passion for reading that I have! Its so hard to find people that read these days - especially in Pakistan.
