M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Yay! Well done Pam.
Dropped off McMini and decided I’d wait until the traffic died down and so went to a coffee house at McMini’s school and did some writing. 588 words, 3k overall. It’s beginning to get interesting.

Cheers

MTM

Jim | 21809 comments so is the concept of a school with a coffee house!

message 2903: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments 1300 words and that finishes the third story. 😁

message 2904: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Very satisfactory.

message 2905: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments going well :-)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Another story, another 2116 words. Sadly, I wrote down the title of the next story while we were away. I've just looked at it and I have no earthly idea what I meant!

keep the title, if it's good enough it'll attract a story in it's own good time :-)

message 2908: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I remembered during the evening. Wrote some notes, then thought of another.

message 2909: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments 2478 today. That's two stories, one only short and entitled Brief Encounter!

message 2910: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Ooo get you Kath! Nice going.

Jim, it's only at the spots centre. They let the General Public use that so they have a coffee house there.

1.5k yesterday, the short's up to 4k. Just about to do half an hour on it now before I go collect McMini.

Cheers

MTM

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments A spots centre??? I know there must be some spotty teens around, but really??

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments 797 - slacking today, but the story is finished.

message 2917: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments A couple hundred words. Slow but steady. The previous ones aren't as bad as I thought. Still having trouble getting my head to clear.

OTOH, my beta reader's response to the previous chapter was heartwarming. A chapter that took over a year from start to finish - and included a gigantic disruptive move in that time - is apparently no different in voice or style than the previous ones. Phew!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Encouraging, Alicia. :)

Thanks. I was at that "I'm so close to this I can't see it objectively" stage I always get to, so it was most appreciated feedback.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just over a thousand - half a short story.

Pam Baddeley | 3334 comments Worked on the first few chapters of the next book I'm going to bring out. Another re-edit so can't say a definite word count.

Jim | 21809 comments finally got back to Tallis novel having been putting stuff together for a blog tour

message 2925: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments 1175 this morning. That's most of a story but I'm being called into the garden for some major autumn clearing up.

Good news is that the collection of short stories now stands at 17,587 so is now technically novella length. :)

message 2926: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments that's going nicely :-)

They do.

Today, though, I am recovering from my bravado performance making my new steed look easy (doctor's office, pharmacy, shopping trip) - and a lot of muscles hurt just because they haven't been used in quite this way for a long time.

But it's such fun to be a show-off for once - and zoom around like able-bodied people, careless of time and energy expenditures.

24 seconds long, and yes, it is that easy, right out of the box. (I have a new Airwheel S8 as my mobility device.)

Can't wait to try it at a museum or the Davis arboretum.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments 300 words is about what I’ve done Alicia - although there’s been a lot of editing and am coding the new book to upload to preorder so things are happening.

Cheers

message 2933: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3334 comments Had to divert from the new book the last 2 days as I decided the line spacing looked odd in the paperback having got my author copy. So reformatted it and waiting for designer to put last finishing touches on the adjusted cover. Also uploaded copies of the book with the new cover (featuring series title) to all the ebook sites/distributors.

message 2934: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Well done, Pam.
1792 words today, and I think my story collection is finished at 22,365 words.

message 2935: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Kath, nice going! Well done. ;-)

Pam, Oooo I hear you. I am just resizing all my books to a standard format, and giving them matt covers so they’re the same as Escape. I’m half way through book one. Haven’t done much writing this week but have done keywords for my new release, constructed an ePub and uploaded it to a fair few sites, done the ISBN thing etc. Also had a real giggle talking to a guy who wants to get into audio books and has decided that the way of making himself a portfolio is to do the K’Barthan series and split the royalties with me. I have warned him he’ll make pence if he’s lucky but he still seems intent on going ahead. He sent me a test book, which was Unlucky Dip and it’s bloody marvellous.

So yeh, things are happening. Just going to do some editing now while I finish this huge glass of wine! Mwahahahaahrgh!

message 2936: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments I'm trying the 'get at least 500 words done in a day' method - 503 today. Then I quit while I was ahead.

It did seem to make it easier to force myself to focus, knowing that I had a short stint planned.

Longer is too open-ended for me right now - life is too erratic. I make the commitment, sit at the computer for four or five hours (nap in the middle), and don't get things started. With only two hours blocked today, it somehow work.

A reminder to revisit old techniques when feeling a bit stuck.

message 2937: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Good plan Alicia. I've got this 10 minutes a day rule going on, that's 250 words if I type fast and usually 500 - 1000 if I get dragged into it and carry on (which is the plan). I've so much book stuff to do at the moment though that it's definitely all go!

Did some editing this morning, not much written but a lot read. Also working on sorting out pukka versions of the K'Barthan Series 8 x 5.25 matt covers so they look like proper books rather than self published books.

Also wrote a blog post. https://mtmcguire.co.uk/2019/10/05/ne...

Cheers

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Need to get today's words done. I wonder if I'm even capable of a streak, but every little bit helps.

It's not even writer's block, but a physical feeling of working through wet cement. Too much social life is my diagnosis - overwhelmed.

Most of it lately is my fault: my new Airwheel S8 is getting so many comments and smiles that I feel I have to stop and demonstrate - that's what I get for being a ham.

message 2939: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments today seems to have been the day to write blog posts

message 2940: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments I wrote one, too!

I hope it explains a bit of why I've been MIA on my blog:

message 2941: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments More editing today. Have not got the first in series in paperback format, the right size. ;-)

message 2942: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Woot 906 words today which I'm really pleased with as I wasn't really up for it at all. Haven't finished the scene, the parrot is still causing chaos in the warehouse and I have also checked and re formatted the paperback, got a cover template and sent that to the designers so I'm feeling smug.

All this despite input from the cat who is concerned to ensure that I take frequent rest breaks.

Cheers

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments 500 and something words yesterday, needless to say, the two complete stories are the ones at the end, the ones that need work are the one I've just done and ... the next one! Doh!

Also did my blog post today, and now I'm listening to Unlucky Dip on Audio, Mark 3 while I have an inhale and pretending it's 'work'. :-) Mwahahaargh!

Cheers

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Not a counting thing, but I had a good day starting the gathering for the next scene.

message 2945: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Nice going Alicia. I haven’t done much today, wrote a blog post, did some stuff on the audio book with the lovely bloke who’s doing it. Did some stuff yesterday though, even though I felt like shit. Not much, only about 100 words but it’s better than nothing!

Cheers

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Just went out for a trike ride - lovely afternoon, and I hadn't ridden in a while - but now I'm tired.

I'll take a nap, and try to write a bit before dinner.

Too much social life.

message 2947: by M.T. (last edited Oct 19, 2019 06:49AM) (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Trike ride sounds great Alicia. Did a quick summary of what’s going to happen next today and got 650 words. So that’s going to take a wee while to write up. Something to do while I sit by the pool, I think. :-)

Cheers

message 2948: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments I wrote lots of words in the gathering phase - this scene is very skinny right now.

But so much has to happen because the end of the chapter is a huge shock, and I want the reader to be able to say that it was all there, if only they could have seen it.

Takes planning.

message 2949: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Oooo! That’s sounds exciting. I love it when I know where it’s going but just have to plait all the threads!
