or to look at it more positively, you're practicing your craft so you're getting better :-)

Nice job. No focusing on word count is required really, we’re just trying to keep each other chipper and keep going.

So many boxes!

Mostly, started thinking about the writing, which is key to being able to write. I thought I was finished. I also thought it was a bit blah, and apparently so did my subconscious, which asked a question...
Better than letting readers think it's blah.

Why can't children just do what they're told?

But yes, in the years 'Before Tallis' I was trying to write something with a different protagonist and it just didn't flow. It was damned hard work
And then my new protagonist stepped over Benor asleep on a barge and suddenly it became so much easier to write. I think that some characters are like that, stories pour out of them and you have to run behind with a note pad to keep up!
Others are just hard work

Those others will have to get someone else to tell their stories. Their loss.

Yes I think it's best when you have characters who sort of 'flow' for you. They create stories around them :-)

After the home tour the spouse agreed to for next Sunday, and for which he is promising to finish unpacking the boxes (!!!), I refuse to schedule anything for a long time.
And figure out how to get to sleep before 3 am. I think it's stress, and that ends Sunday.

There are times when I have a strong dislike of technology :-(

But on the upside, the next Space Opera will be released next week, and the fifth in the series a few weeks later once it is back from the editor

Excuse my long absence, my email alerts aren't working and I've been working on my new release, needless to say the one that has to come out first was the one that needed the most editing. I think it's now good enough to send to an editor. The cover is pretty much done, which means that, in theory, I can launch it as soon as the editor is finished.
I've written the blurbs and am in the throes of deciding on the titles, with some help from my email list, I hope and others ...
If any of you want to have a go at that, the relevant blog post, etc, is here https://mtmcguire.co.uk/2019/04/27/wh....

It's OK I got over it - because it was showing various books as the topic and none were mine as it isn't appearing on GR yet, I tried to avoid it by putting in a full stop. Tried again and it does allow me to type my name and ignore the suggestions so the thread is created now. Hooray!

I sort of 'get round' that problem by publishing the book a week or so before I want to 'publish it' and start promoting it. That way I get the hiccups out of the way and can also share the url with those doing the blog tour

I'll know better for next time!

It did appear last night Kath and I did my best just now to add the ebook (epub) version. Only a partial success as the book page now shows Other editions (1) but no little thumbnail and says 'None found'. However, if I click All editions, the page then shows both. So not sure what I haven't done right.

Interesting time: first I found that my friend who writes as Catrin Collier and Kathryn John has got her rights back from her publishers to self publish her 40 books on Amazon. Fancy that? An established author going indie!
Then an indian lady I had never met told everyone who she was now published with Author House. And having paid them over £ 2K to release her book was seriously about to invest another £ 4K in their marketing package.
Clearly I'm in the wrong trade...

It's weird, I love writing short stories but I am seriously hankering after something that goes deeper.
Anyway, I wrote a blog today. I think it's quite a good one as far as those go ... https://mtmcguire.co.uk/2019/05/04/oh... if anyone's interested. ;-)
Also sorry I keep missing posts, my notifications have stopped working.

No worries, I cocked up the link. I changed it after a while but not before a few people had tried to vote and discovered they couldn’t. I got enough information to give me a steer!
