Nothing today, we’re going on holiday tomorrow so it’s all a bit hectic. I did do the statutory 10 minutes but I probably only wrote about 100 words if that.

Finished the horror short, just in time. And I got the edits back on the short story I sold recently - just one slight continuity glitch in the whole thing!
Not written anything yet. It's just that I'm on a blog tour to accompany the launch of a Benor, Port Naain Investigator story.
Anyway last time I did that I launched it with a serialised story which ran in episodes in about ten blogs. So I thought I'd have another go.
It's a fascinating discipline, because a blog post/chapter is about 1200 words and something has to happen in each chapter. Not just plot exposition or moving the story along.
Not only that but at the end of the tenth chapter I've got to produce an ending of sorts, but leave the reader interested enough to buy the book and read the last four chapters and the proper ending.
But I had a chapter that wasn't producing action! So I've spent time pondering it, and have ended up splitting it so it becomes two chapters. And I've created a new character whose main role is to die moderately spectacularly in chapter four!
1127 today. By the end of the next session I should have passed the 40k mark and be in official 'short novel' territory.

Finally got another day in which the brain clicked on, and I wrote thousands of words and did a lot of thinking. The next stage would be to write fiction in the current chapter.
Cross fingers. The words can't elude me forever.

but very few of those were stabbed in the back by the captain :-)
I finished the short: and then to my annoyance realised I had strayed too far from the brief and couldn't use it for that submission. Doh!
1098. Just pipped over my thousand, though I typed up 1600 for a lady who wants to pubish her children's poems. Lovely ideas but no clue about setting them out and retyping was quicker than explaining. Still got a lot of them to do!

I ended up organising it :-) Or at least I gave her the blogs and found the email addresses on them and then told her want to say in her email
I'm a long way from my briefs. Got my swimming cossie on.Did 1,300 yesterday. Did a lot of thinking but not much writing today. It's coming together slowly its just making peoples actions believable.
I think I’ve done another 1.5k or so since I last posted. Final day of lovely holiday sunshine before we return to cold(er) Blighty tomorrow. It has been wonderful here, I’ve written stuff, read a book a day, diddled around on facebook (a luxury I do not usually allow myself) and generally relaxed. It’s the perfect holiday, brief periods of activity so I don’t get fat, and the rest sitting around writing, reading and eating. It’s been wonderful.Cheers

I've been doing over a thousand a day typing up someone else's stuff! Hope to get back to writing my own in a couple of days.

Actually started writing fiction yesterday; at least 20-30 words that will end up in the final version. Plus read all my notes, and pushed through some of my process (lots of not-fiction words), so hope the scene will gel and I can get this one out the chute.
Yay! Go Alicia! I read back the shorts I’ve written this year and really enjoyed three of the four. The first is a bit cack but I reckon I can work on it. I just need to write another two or three now.
Cheers

I'm glad someone is getting some words down. The pov character from the current scene has started to nag. That's never happened before.
Nice going will! Alicia, quick! Write something to make the nagging stop!Glad to say I’ve got some done some this week too, a couple of low days at around a couple of hundred and a couple of stonkers at over 1k. Nine hundred and something yesterday so I’m chuffed with that. Discovered I’ve done just over 8k since Oct 16th which, with I’m pleased with what with my life being the way it is and my going through my creatively dead part of the lady cycle for a week, too. I wish I’d started writing non-fiction ages ago as it’s great for these times.
Also Parish magazine week so that’ll take 15 hours or so. Still got four in the bag yesterday so with any luck I should bash it on the head by Friday and be back to normal stuff.
Cheers

Excellent! I've just written a short story (1120 words) for a Facebook group. We have a new story each day from Dec 8th to Christmas Eve. Lots of different authors and styles. So I suppose I can count that!
Have a day in which nothing is scheduled. Don't know what to do with myself. Writing is the obvious choice, but I keep getting started - and then knocked off my pins a couple of days later. Don't trust it!Did manage to get a blog post out yesterday, and today had the odd experience of having someone look at 89 places on the home page (Archives?), with nothing like that in blog reads. And of course not a word left behind. Do bots do that?
Nice going Will. Having a bit of a blitz on the non fiction, have done about 6k over the weekend and another 1k today. ;-) I’d have done Nano if I knew it was going to be like this!Cheers

Only added 149 words this morning but I'm working through the book I left off for the funeral and the extended visit to daughter and co. I don't want to pick up from where I left off till I've totally reacquainted myself with it.

There are three threads and I’m sort of bobbing form one to another but not quite tying them up right.

True ... and yes it has been fun, and quite cathartic.
1000 word blog post. Better than nothing.I know why the fiction isn't coming, but have no control over the energy-draining activities which are necessary, so I just need the usual: more patience.
Progress IS happening, just not fiction.
Yay! Go Alicia. Yesterday went quite well, I managed to get back into some fiction, a new short in my series ... I'm not quite sure where it's going to go but it's standing at 3k now and I wrote two of those yesterday. ;-) Today I'll be finishing off the parish mag.
