Agony Aunt

Today I mostly wrote ... the word count thread.

Watched part of a 'Making of' Tom Cruise MIssion Impossible featurette on Youtube last night. Don't laugh. It's research. I'm finding it hard to get started on writing because I quit at an awkward place. If I don't write today, there will be some tearing out of hair. This place is too social!
Very little for me today. Did my minimum ten minutes before I even got up. Then there was a gas leak at McMini’s school so I had to take him home. We had a fun day and I completely missed the text at 11.30 asking me to bring him back. Cheers

Round here a lot of parents could never get the next and we don't all live on our phone.
For a school to communicate by text it tells me that they want to tick the box marked 'communicated with everybody) but didn't particularly care whether anybody got the message or not
Especially where going BACK to school is concerned. I would probably have ignored it even if I saw it. It's too good an opportunity to have an impromptu adventure.
K's son got a text about his daughters' parents evening on a Sunday, with the event the following day -and all appointments already taken up. Daft, isn't it?
Parents evening on a Sunday!!! I'd be glad there were no appointments left, damned if I'm going to school on a Sunday, those poor teachers.
Ours aren’t bad but you do tend to be inundated with them at the beginning of each term, we get emails and texts. We used to get a sheet of paper brought home but most parents never saw them until the end of term when a sheaf of undelivered papers were brought home from their little darling’s classroom drawers. So it works better than the old system but it’s still a pain. Did a few hundred words today before I left for Sussex. Should get a bit done tomorrow although I have to hoover a doll’s house and possibly treat it for woodworm.

Pleased with 1135 today as I've squashed the writing in between the cake club and the flower arranging class. Should manage over a thousand tomorrow, too. With a following wind. ;)
Good going Kath. We are off to France today so hoping I might manage my ten minutes in the car.Cheers

Woot! 670 of the new series in the car on the way to the tunnel. May not be s blog post this week though.
1319 this morning. Not going to do NaNo this year. I'm motoring on with this anyway and I don't need any more pressure! Is anyone else doing it?
Am in two minds as I am still slogging on with this edit ...... would love to work on something else for a change!
I’m thinking about Nano but I have lots of different things to do so it would be making a work count rather than making a single novel. I reckon I could make 30k in November which would be a nice start to something. I have a lot of stuff to redo for the new series though because I’m pretty sure the lead character is not male, as I though but female.
630 on a new short, and I've just had confirmation that one of my fantasy short pieces has been taken by an anthology.

I've managed to get 2800 words done in the last two days on the start of the next Benor story. It's the first time I've been able to write stuff other than blogs for quite a while. Been busy
I'm hoping so :-)I'm clearing the decks a bit. I have another character and another background. I'm going to use Lauderdale and set him in the post WW1 period.
Some of it is because I love the John Buchan stories :-)
Also I have great heaps of stuff on that time, a lot of it written at that time :-)
I might even get a thriller written :-)
selling books is a concept I'm still getting my head around so I don't want to go making definitive statements :-)
I think most of us feel that way, Jim. The excitement is in the creation. I've just written 1059 words and I'm off to report back to a certain author about his latest. ;)
I’m not sure how many words I’ve done recently, but I did 870 today, 570 yesterday and the big w.i.p. has hit 90k. It’s not even half done, so I suspect it’s going to be a duo- du- duel- two books.I find thrillers a bit boring but that’s just me and I’m sure any thriller Jim wrote would be interesting!
Cheers

The problem is stopping it becoming an in depth academic analysis of the chaos in Germany in 1920 :-(
