Today I mostly wrote ... the word count thread.
698 - tomorrow's target is to smash through the 30k mark. With 600 to go, I'm in with a shout.
Sunday kid time airshow no writing. But it was fun.
Another 2K this morning. Now some paying work.
I've been working on the parish magazine this morning (which I have been roped into compiling because the only person who can touch type ... and because I'm completely fucking stupid) and have just kicked it into touch for lunch after which I will be doing my statutory 20 minutes writing ... probably from a shady part of the garden!Cheers

1360. Good for me - the Distraction Queen!
No words - envious of all you lot.But an inspection by the township (found two tiny things to fix) and a visit from the buyers' appraiser, plus the staging ladies removing a bunch of their things so we don't have to worry about them - progress toward being able to go back to writing is occurring.
I have to sort the contents of my office and my writing and my memories - I need company! Hate doing boring things alone.
There's another 1250 this morning. Moving to the climax of this novella now, with just 2 big scenes left to write.I was chatting with a mate who owns a bookshop near Bristol at Edge lit, and asking for his advice on what's selling best with a view to seeing what I should concentrate on next.
His advice was to write a thriller. But when I described the outline of a quite different novel that I have been working on for a bit, he and his wife were really enthused by the concept (one that might give my BETA readers a bit of a shock, coming from me) so I'm going to finish it over the summer. But I've no idea what I'll do with it then!
877 today. Feel inspired to write more but I'm being taken for a seside trip to include a fish and chip lunch. So - what are you going to do? See you!
Wrote 625 or thereabouts yesterday. Last week of term so everything’s manically busy AND I have to do the community magazine as well. So I’m just sitting down to do my 20 minute writing stint now. Then, with any luck, I can knock most of the chuffing mag on the head before visit the parents day tomorrow!Cheers

Managed 520 before 8 am. As a result I’ve done ... well ... 520 words and 20 minutes on visit the parents Wednesday. Feeling well smug. If only I can keep a little of this going over the holidays.
Flogging through the edit again, now about 60% through the book ....

Managed to put a new blog post up on my Patreon account, even though I've lost all of my computer notes, and don't dare try to produce the posts the way I've been doing.I used a pdf application and a previously produced chapter, and broke it into scenes with white rectangles over the stuff I didn't want included.
Once we move, I'll figure it out, but I don't dare try to reconstruct anything right now, because I get interrupted so often - I'll just make it worse. This place has a bunch of computer gurus - I'm going to play 'helpless female' if necessary. I'm really out of my depth, and wondering at how bad I was able to make things so quickly.

I made about 1750 this morning and I made myself motion sick on the train! I'm going to sit down this weekend and try to make it to 20k. Does anyone else find that the first 15 or so come easy and then it's a hard slog to the through the next 20k? I think its because now's when I start noticing plotholes
I find I don't make enough notes at the beginning and then I can't remember what people's surnames are! The 'find' button is so useful!
I'm the same with the names I invent for my fantasy - which invariably end up spelt six different ways as I go!
Wow everyone is so industrious. I’m at my in laws for the weekend celebrating Dad in law’s 80th so no blog post this week but I did manage to write 518 words in my 20 minute slot this morning (once again, in bed before everyone got up). Quite knackered now but might have a go at a quick blog post, just coz ...Cheers

1204 this morning, taking it to 37,205. It will soon be officially a novel!
Only 250 today so far, but I'm trying to wrap up a long-running and overly complex novel without contradicting myself.
Just 380 today - but I did do my 10 minutes and I have managed the blog post too.Cheers

just over 800 on Tallis, preparing another blog tour, but this one I am not going to publish as a book as the blog tour grinds to a close, because I've learned my lesson :-)

nice going chaps. Did my 20 minutes this morning. Finished a short and sketched out an idea for another. Have a scene for one of the novels bouncing about in my head at the moment though so I may write that ... but may have to have another go at the 10k short for the anthology because it's come in at 10.3 and I'm not sure I can cut it down much.Cheers

No. It becomes what it's meant to be. I'm happy if an idea turns into a short, a novella or a novel. I don't aim for a particular count. Readers can detect padding!

Basically they're expecting people to turn up, often pay to hire a table or whatever, and then don't actually bother doing anything to publicise the event

OK, now starting to reformat the book again for the next read through .... hoping it really will be the last.

Added another 463 yesterday. But I'm about to take a lot of them out again.
Cut some today as I’m editing one of the shorts, the 10 k one. I’m not sure whether making it longer would slow it down, or make it better. It’s always tricky to tell when you’re a long way in, yourself and enjoy hanging out with the characters.
