How timely, with the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion. I've only read MacLennan's Two Solitudes, which I enjoyed. Was this a good book?
I like this book better than Two Solitudes. The author does an excellent job describing the city of Halifax during that time period- before and after the explosion.

I have yet to see the movie, but really liked the book. One of these days I'll have to find the movie.
The movie really creates the mood of the hot summer day on Hanging Rock.
