The place to discuss this awesome show - now heading into a third season...

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) At first I couldn't get into Arrow but now I'm addicted to it. The second season was even better than the first. The villains they have are interesting, and it's definitely the darkest of CW so far.

I've though the show was great from the pilot on..

Emily - I agree with you on the first two items - I could be okay with the last, but don't expect that.

Predictions on the "big bad" for Season 3?

message 5: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments Had anyone ever put together the name of the Miraku drug with Rex Tyler's (Hourman) Miraclo pill, which gave him super powers for only an hour. I think that's more than a coincidence.

Oh and I love Felicity.

I did not. Cool.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Emily, you may be right about the Canary prediction. I'm curious what's going to happen with Thea too when the new finale starts. Her demented father is an interesting character.

Jeff | 425 comments Gotta love John Barrowman aka Captain Jack Harkness :)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I found this tidbit for a new villain coming early in Arrow, Season 3. Any thoughts/ideas?

"According to TVLine, the first adversary of Season 3 will be a man named Seth. This "criminal mastermind" is a "shade of a man" whose intensity is only slightly offset by his tendency to whistle classical music. The man may also have what are described as "reptilian eyes." "

message 10: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I think that its a version of another similar villain that was done a long time ago

message 11: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments The first image of Roy Harper in the red costume of "Arsenal" in season3 of Arrow. I just knew he wasn't finished. Inthe back of my head I knew they would bring up Arsenal.

http://screenrant.com/arrow-season-3-...

Though, they way they have portrayed his character inthe series, unless there is a good amount of time that's gone by for him to become a weapons expert, I just am not feeling it form him. maybe its just the actor they have playing him, I don't think he's someone I would have picked for the role or Roy Harper.
But that's a minor thing inthe grand scheme.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I'm liking the outfit. As for the actor, I never cared much either way, he isn't horrible but he doesn't stand out in my mind either. I never liked most of the women chosen as the cast for Arrow either.

message 13: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I have to tell you I love Felicity. Her character isn't in the comics, but I do like her character a lot. I also like the actress as well. I think she fits.

I wasn't crazy about Summer Glau as the woman that helped Deathstroke and became Lady Deathstroke.

From what I've ready about Arrows former GF Lauren, They are going to get her pumped up and working-out to become part of team Arrow, so she isn't the helpless
little girl she has been inthe past.
I like that they are introducing Killer Frost in some of the episodes also.
Its going to be a good season, that combined with The Flash alone will be fantastic.
Add in Constantine, Gotham and I, Zombie and it will be a awesome season.
Not to mention Agents of Shield and agent Carter.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I do like Felicity and think she's well cast, but I didn't care for Caity Lotz as Sara at all, something about her really bugged me. Not a bad actress really, just no chemistry with me.

message 15: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I will agree with that. I thought she had the black canary look down or at least close, but her connection to her sister and the family and that whole triangle thing didn't go well for me. Still, the creators and such always tried to keep their series grounded in as real as they could make it for a comic adaptation.

Okay - S3 E1
Good episode - the end... didn't see that coming!

message 17: by Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (last edited Oct 11, 2014 12:17AM) (new)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Apparently I'd already forgotten a lot since last season. Took me a little bit to get into it, but starting warming up to it.

And yeah, you're right, that ending surprised the hell out of me.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Another impressive episode from Arrow. Maybe the best start to a new season of it so far. I do wonder on the naming of the baby though - surely it would have had a name by now? Sweet gesture at least. Surely Laurel's father will find out soon.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) The third episode was also great. This is lining up to be my favorite so far for the seasons, I think. I'm not surprised with the changes for Laurel, kind of figured that would start happening. Thea is ... Thea. Dug the mini-revelation ending.

message 20: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I don't think that Laurels dad is going to find out until she starts running around in the Black Canary costume.
Also the guy that's going to train her known as Ted Grant is relay the hero Wildcat from the Justice Society. He doesn't have any powers except that he has a knock out punch that can be considered "super".

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) See, you know everything about this stuff Jeff, one of the many reasons I keep you around :) I'd have had no idea otherwise.

message 22: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments Erin you know me, my goal is to please and inform. heheheh

message 23: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments In this weeks "The Flash" at the beginning when the security car is being robbed, the name on it says "Blackhawk Security corp" Blackhawk is the leader of the famed DC comics team of The Blackhawks.
They are a band of Military men brought together by the anonymous Blackhawk during the forties and world war 2. Then they fought Nazi agents but in the fifties they began to fight the fantastic criminals and aliens.
So there you have it another easter egg for you.

Thanks Jeff... missed that one

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) This week's episode was another good one. Learned a little darkness in Felicity's past, and personally I liked her mother from the start. Us girls and our mothers...we all have histories.

Wow on the ending though, sitting here wondering what that means.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Looks like a love triangle brewing on Arrow - but with the CW, that's common. As with most shows like this, will probably keep going back and forth for awhile. A formula that's tired but effective if done right.

Still enjoying this season.

message 27: by Jim (new)

Jim (jkmfilms) I'm really liking this season. And am really interested to see where they go with ATOM.

And that cliffhanger! (Literally :) )

(I can't believe I just did that.)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I'm liking this season quite a bit, but thought the mid-season finale was a little lackluster.

By this point, about everyone's been accused of killing Sara!

It looks like Arrow has officially been picked up for another season too :)

message 29: by James (new)

James | 340 comments Mod
Maybe because we have already seen this story (the circumstances in which Sara was killed) on this show... Don't get me wrong, I still like the show.. I'll still be watching. Just sayin

... and Oliver is pretty bad ass.. I think that he would have put up more of a fight

message 31: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I had already given my opinion about what I thought happened to Oliver at the end of the mid season break episode when he was supposedly killed. My take was that his long time mentor who was working with Rā's al Ghūl, would find his body after everyone dispersed and either help heal him or bring him home to the arrow cave. Well it seems I was right about him being brought home.
Im thinking that to heal him he will have to be given a good dose of the Mirakuru.
While he heals The Atom will be revealed as well as Lauren wearing the new Black Canary costume, which is much better than the one that Sara wore.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) James wrote: "... and Oliver is pretty bad ass.. I think that he would have put up more of a fight"

Yeah, that was a short, awkward fight.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Jeff wrote: "I had already given my opinion about what I thought happened to Oliver at the end of the mid season break episode when he was supposedly killed. My take was that his long time mentor who was wor..."

I still can't wrap my head around Lauren making a fitting black canary yet, but I know that's the direction they're going.

Your theory...well, makes sense, and is probably how they'll do it.

message 34: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments From the previews Ive seen already for the return of Arrow, They have already showed someone dragging a body thru the snow and a body playing on a table inthe arrow cave. So I kinda feel vindicated on my idea. heheheheh

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I haven't seen previews yet - where have I been? Just keep seeing his facebook post and pictures about his son and fan art. Fun in itself, but I miss the other stuff apparently ;)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Last episode was pretty good. Arrow is finally back. I'm sure they'll mend the Felicity thing.

Looks like

(view spoiler)

message 38: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments Oliver needs to loosen up a bit and give Felicity what she needs. Reassurance.
And of course Diggle was approached by DC and is in talks about a Green Lantern role.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I don't know, I think she was so bothered by them thinking it was acceptable to(view spoiler) that she needs to take a breather.

Of course he could always step up to be more reassuring about the relationship potential to, but don't think she'd want to hear it right now. CW always has to have some sort of angst there.

message 40: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments There have been quite a few people from other sites all putting in their opinion that Arrow is using the same formula as Smallville. I don't really agree with that. I think Arrow has stood on its own since the beginning. Your right about the CW doing the angst thing. But on the whole I think its different here.
I think Oliver should reassure Felicity that he does feel that way about her and that they will start working closer to their relationship a little at a time.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I agree with you it's not following a Smallville formula. This is just kind of a CW formula...but it doesn't bother me. I expect it. They work it out in the end.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Jeff wrote: "I think Oliver should reassure Felicity that he does feel that way about her and that they will start working closer to their relationship a little at a time."

Yes, he is a bit clueless with relationships right now. Must be out of practice. All that island time :)

I don't think that Arrow is following the Smallville formula... but I would not mind if it did. Smallville lasted 10 seasons after all.

message 44: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments Yeah I kinda fell out of grace with smallville for a number of years after watching the first season and half way thru he second season. It just wasn't doing it for me. I think it took a little too long to develop. Season 7 was great because of Supergirl, but then they didn't really know what to do with her and half way thru she was gone. Even when they brought inthe Justice Society, it wasn't that good. I think the CW and Warner/DC learned a big lesson about how to develop a superhero show. Arrow fixed everything and now look at the things they have going.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) We do have to disagree on that. I like Arrow but found Smallville superior to it. I agree it was weaker in later seasons, but I think that's because they tried to reach too far with the story for ratings and lost some of the individual personalities as a result of that rush. Then again, this happens to almost all shows I watch that go on that long.

Arrow is grittier and serious, but to me not as gripping. Still, definitely get into it. Hope they continue their hero run for awhile now with these shows on the CW. I like that the network takes chances and gives longer seasons - it can considering it's a lower budget studio that can afford to have fewer viewers.

message 46: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I respect your opinion on the Smallville thing of course. And understand where your coming from on it.
The fact that most Cable networks do expect smaller ratings in the long run is actually a better thing for most newer and long running shows on those networks. And that's why if NBC ships Constantine/Hellblazer over to SYFY, as much as you might not like the network, will give it a better chance at it surviving into an even better and closer to the comic show.
And besides, SyFy has put out some really stellar shows for a while now. Such as; Haven, Helix, Dominion and a number of others.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I couldn't get into Haven really, but heard today from someone that Helix is pretty good and on Netflix. Will give that one a try, but don't know it's plot yet.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) As to how Laurel's father is acting, it's understandable to a degree but I'm a bit annoyed by him and his actions. Hope that plotline doesn't stay around long. Is it bugging anyone else?

message 49: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I told you about Helix last year Erin. lol Well laurel is going to end up in central city I think and Cisco is going to give her per powers of the Canary Cry or known as the sonic scream.

message 50: by James (new)

James | 340 comments Mod
I think that Cisco is coming to Starling City actually.
