We are reading book 1. I've actually already started. But we can make it officially starting on June 1 and go through the month of June. We can discuss as we go. Make sure to put spoiler tags on your messages so that it doesn't spoil it for the ones that may join in later.

A great choice guys! I've read the entire series and was blown away. I am eager to hear all your thoughts on it. Enjoy.

Other than Invaders, Defilers, Avengers, Other Weird Heroes, The Touch, Pirates, Plague Bearers, and Mobius Murders I've read them all.

I own Invaders and Defilers, just waiting for nothing to be available at library to pull them out, the rest I cannot find for the life of me which also makes me less inclined to read my last 2.

I think Necroscope is more enjoyable to read than some of the later ones, especially once they start going into the other dimensions. That being said I do think the origin story for the necroscope world is one of the most unique for vampires. And some of the vampire's abilities in the other dimensions are shudder-worthy.

(view spoiler)[ Nice set up with Alec Kyle meeting the apparition in Gormley's old office. Even though this is written in the mid 1980s, with a few updates I can picture this happening today. Love the idea of a secret branch of government that deals with ESP and it's companions. Very Firestarter-kinda feel.

Ahh the introduction of Harry. If we all don't have a little bit of him in us when we were younger, we definitely know someone like him. Nothing like catching a peak of your teachers shagging on the beach! And how about the very source of the peepshow coming to Harry's defense against the bully? I love how not only did "Sergeant" Lane boot Big Stanley in the ass, but when threatened to be told on to the bully's dad, Lane called him out and said "What? That fat, beer-gut who are wrestles his mates for pints in the Black Bull? Well, when you do, ask him who beat him last night and nearly broke his arm!" Absolutely classic. How great would it be if teachers could do that now with bullys??

I loved that scene totally as well, it was so good to see the (view spoiler)[bully Stanley getting his ass kicked, firts by Seargent and then even better, by Harry himself :) (hide spoiler)]

I'm at the part where (view spoiler)[Dragosani is in Romania visiting the village where his from and his 'father'...how about that?!

I find his story quite intriguing but I can't wait to have Harry back, he seems as such an interesting little man (hide spoiler)]

Dragosani arrives in Romania and part of his background is revealed. Very descriptive of the mountain and the crumbling tomb. I felt like I was there.

Dragosani a virgin with nymphos for an aunt and cousins that try "deflower" him? And inviting the vampire from the ground into him. This gets better and better.

Harry is definitely the star of the show. I can't wait to see how these two characters collide.

Harry is probably one of my favorite characters ever created. And the Necroscope series is fantastic.

Harry opens up, somewhat, to Brenda and after talking to his murdered mother, he begins to plot his revenge on his evil step-father.

Is anyone else loving this character and his skills? Imagine the possibilities and the conversations you could have!

Back to Dragosani. He returns to Romania and discovers a scholar that is an expert on wamphyri due his first-hand experience with one during World War II. I've never thought about what vampires lives would be like during moments like this in history. Interesting idea to explore.

Chapter Nine:

We find out that Dragosani's father, Tibor, has been pulling the string on his son to get the information that he wants which leads to Boris putting distance between himself and the old vampire to break the mental ties. Want to place any bets that this will only be temporary? Really enjoying the history story line and the characters here.

Things are really moving now. Harry confronts his step-father. The Russians find out about their British counterparts. Dragosani gets a partner with an unusual skill. And Harry's talents are discovered. Is anyone else flying through this book? I can't put it down!

Wasn't that nuts? I grew up in the 80s. So Dragosani being a necromancer AND a Russian makes for a good villain!

I know what you mean Ken, the closer I was to the end of the book, the more I wanted to read it!

It was so cool when it was finally (view spoiler)[explained what Harry's talent really is...and what his newly learned talent is!

This is such a mixture of genres here...we have vampires but a totally uniques story with the simbiozis between the host and the parasitic vampire, we have dead rising at the end-or zombies, we have scientific talk about time relativity and different dimensions, time travel etc...and I so didn't expect that turn lol (hide spoiler)]

I hope you will all enjoy the book till the end just like myself...and anyone want's to read the next book...sometime in the closer/farer future-whateve suits most readers?

I did not enjoy chapter 3 so much. I'm not a fan of math. I think I can see what happened but still too much math talk. :p

This is so interesting! I totally love when there is math, phisics and everything that is connected to any kind of science :) I always loved numbers.

I'm up to chapter 6 and it's getting better. I keep thinking about Count Magnus. a guy talking to a vampire in a mausoleum! hopefully i'll have plenty of time to read this weekend and can knock out a few more chapters.
