♥ Military Romance: Almost always featuring an Alpha Male, Military heroes are very popular in these economic times. From Navy SEALs to Black Ops to all branches of the service, these tend to be testosterone laden dudes who are often commitment phobic. They stick with you though flying bullets and exploding bombs, and eventually claim you forever. The protagonist may be male or female, as long as they are in the military or acting as a consultant. Popular authors are Cindy Girard, Suzanne Brockmann, Lisa Marie Rice, Maya Banks, Cherry Adair, Eileen Nauman (writing as Lindsay McKenna), Lora Leigh, M. L. Buchman, and Cat Johnson, to name a few. Helpful listopia: Military Romance Genre on GR and Miltary Romance & Fiction.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Okay. I read Death Comes to the Village (Kurland St. Mary Mystery, #1) by Catherine Lloyd .

Really enjoyed this start to the series. It is really a Cozy Mystery, but there is definitely a budding romance between the major and the heroine. Fun.

message 14: by Lara (new)

Lara | 2335 comments I read Saga, Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughan last night. Both of the main characters are former military, but not in a good way (view spoiler)

message 15: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) I am a SEAL book groupie. I just got SEAL's Deliverance SEAL's Deliverance (Take No Prisoners #9) by Elle James by Elle James as an ARC and I'm reading it ahead of several other books. I'm so bad, but I just love how Elle James writes her SEAL's. She is a fantastic author, I've yet to read a bad book by her.

message 16: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I don't think I've read anything by her. I'll have to check something out. Any suggestions on where to start, Anita?

message 17: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) Elle James writes short novels, novellas and is published by Harlequin and she publishes independently too. All her Harlequin titles are available on Overdrive, her Covert Cowboy series is with them and very good. Take No Prisoners series is published by independently and not on Overdrive. That is the SEAL series and it's great also.

I just finished SEAL's Deliverance (Take No Prisoners #9) by Elle James

message 20: by Lara (new)

Lara | 2335 comments And I just started The Soldier's E-Mail Order Bride (The Heroes of Chance Creek, #2) by Cora Seton . I'm listening to the audiobook, which got a good review. So far, so good. It's my first by this author.

message 21: by Lara (new)

Lara | 2335 comments I just finished The Soldier's E-Mail Order Bride (The Heroes of Chance Creek, #2) by Cora Seton and definitely recommend it. It's a contemporary marriage of convenience, is fun, but also deals with serious issues. The hero has a major problem with survivor's guilt and it gets in the way of his entire life.

message 22: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Yeah, I liked that one a lot, Lara.
