I like Julie Hyzy series & Bailey Cates series. Good picks.

message 4: by Jean (last edited Dec 15, 2016 03:36AM) (new)

Jean I haven't read any of the Manor of Murder books but this challenge is going to allow me to meet lots of new cozy mystery authors. This is going to be a fun year, really looking forward to it.

message 5: by Betsy (new)

Betsy I am hoping to read Double-Booked for Death too.

I plan on checking out ones that you have read and rated highly and add them to my challenge ha, ha, ha! Sneaky me.

Feel free! I tend to gravitate to the animal ones.

Beth Monsebroten | 14 comments Oh my goodness; I haven't even started to plan for my books. You are on the ball!

message 9: by Jean (new)

Jean Beth if I don't have a plan I become overwhelmed. This list will change more than a couple of times but It will keep me on target. Happy reading to you in this new year.

message 10: by Jean (new)

Jean I've read three on my list and so far none of them have " Wowed" me. Oh well, at least it's just the beginning of the year. Happy reading to all.

message 11: by Betsy (new)

Betsy Hope something will grab you soon.

message 12: by Jean (new)

Jean Thanks, I'm sure it will.

message 13: by Jean (new)

Jean I'm not so sure that The Wayward Apprentice is a cozy but the Cozy Mystery List considers it as one so I added it to my challenge.

It sounds great! :)

message 15: by Jean (new)

Jean I enjoyed it but the murders were a bit more brutal than your usual cozy.

Betsy Jean wrote: "I enjoyed it but the murders were a bit more brutal than your usual cozy."

Maybe because it was "Medieval". Was it too much for you?

message 17: by Jean (new)

Jean No, it wasn't too too bad. I think you're right about the setting.

message 18: by Jean (last edited Feb 01, 2017 04:49AM) (new)

Jean My first 5 rating of 2017 goes to Engaged in Death by Stephanie Blackmoore.
Nice pacing, fully developed characters and believable. There are enough red herrings to keep one interested and guessing. I think that I will follow the series.

Glad to hear it was good as it's on my TBR

A Cereal Killer by Morgana Best is the first book in the Sibyl Potts series.

I bet you don't need to add more books but I bet you will. LOL!

Probably not but I'll never, ever pass up a great read. I'd imagine we all feel that way. LOL!

message 30: by Jean (new)

Jean No. 10 completed 4:50 from Paddington by Agatha Christie. I really enjoyed this one. Christie is at her best. I placed this one under British.

message 31: by Jean (new)

Jean I have watched some of the series and the last one that I watched I didn't like the character at all. However, I'm not sure of either of their names so I don't know which I liked better. But I love reading the earlier books.

message 32: by Jean (new)

Jean Okay Dagny, my favorite is Margaret Rutherford, a real oldie. I didn't know that one of my favorite sleuths, Angela Lansbury, also played Miss Marple.

message 33: by Jean (new)

Jean Read Death of a Bacon Heiress Pretty good read. I rated it 4. Could be read for food or animals genre.

Love title. Glad you liked it.

message 35: by Jean (new)

Jean No. 12 The Art & Craft of Murder Pretty good read, however, very short 48 pages.
Could be classified as culinary, craft, or possibly animal. I rated it 3 more like 2.5.

I have that one on my TBR as well. Since it's a short read maybe I will pick that up next.

message 37: by Jean (new)

Jean You can read it in an hour. All in all not bad.

message 38: by Jean (last edited Aug 04, 2017 05:45AM) (new)

Jean My goodness, I am so far behind where I intended to be in my cozy reading. I have only read 15/40. Must get busy, busy, busy.
I miscounted I only need to read 30.

message 39: by Betsy (new)

Betsy I am sure you will catch up. Cozies are easy to get through. :)

message 40: by Jean (last edited Aug 04, 2017 05:44AM) (new)

Jean 16/40
Charming Voodoo is a nice one. Can be read for Paranormal or Holiday. It takes place during All Hallow's Eve.

There is a great travel series by Maddy Hunter in case you still need one. I believe the first is Alpine For You. I always enjoyed them. Good luck!
