Mel | 90 comments Happy to see all the recommendations for A Darker Shade of Magic; I'm hoping to reread that at some point this year since I haven't read the other two books just yet.
Some other recommendations I'd offer up that I don't think I've seen mentioned yet:
- Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella (could also fit "author who uses a pseudonym")
- The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh, which is an amazing YA reimagining of A Thousand and One Nights
- Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton (pretty stellar/unique fantasy world-building)
- The book I read for this challenge: The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
- A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Grey
- The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye (which I like to describe as the superior YA version of The Night Circus)

Keri | 43 comments For this I selected Pines by Blake Crouch. I am glad I gave it a chance, I think I will even finish the series!

Amanda Presotti | 23 comments I'm filing City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett, which was a good read.

I read A Darker Shade of Magic and really liked it, but not yet sure if I am going to place it under this pro..."

Hi Rachel, Cinder is definitely YA but don't let that put you off. It's not overly silly or overly angsty if that's what you mean by noticeably YA? I loved it (and the sequels) and would highly recommend them.

I've also read A Darker Shade of Magic (and A Gathering of Shadows) this year and loved them both. I'm currently on the library waiting list for A Conjuring of Light and I am so looking forward to it.

Christine H | 496 comments I wasn't planning this, but I needed an audiobook for a road trip with my husband. I grabbed We Are Legion (We Are Bob)

I *adore* it so far, and now I'm a little unhappy that I need to wait for another car trip so we can listen together!

message 106: by Carrie (new)

Carrie | 71 comments I'm going to read Warriors: Into the Wild by Erin Hunter. My niece recommended the series to me, I think it's YA about wild cat colony... anyone read them before?

message 107: by Monica (new)

Monica (monica020) | 61 comments Finally read The Hunger Games.

message 108: by Kaitlin (new)

Kaitlin (katmoonchild) I'm finally taking on the challenge.
A Game of Thrones

Lindsey (lindseybo) | 30 comments All I want to know is what makes a series exactly since 2 is sequel and 3 is trilogy so 4 or more? Am I way over thinking this?

Those are all series. Anything more than 1 book is a series.

Naina (naynay55) | 113 comments I chose Missing, Presumed for this prompt accidentally -- coincidentally it's the first in the DS Manon series -- I've read the second book in the series now too, and it actually was really good. I enjoyed both murder mysteries thoroughly.

message 112: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 643 comments I'm just about done with Matched, one of several new series that I'm trying this year.

message 113: by Susan (new)

Susan (ofearna) I've read Six of Crows, The Gathering Dark, The Raven Boys, Fireborn, The Girl with All the Gifts (even tho that one only has the framework short story and two novels), finally read Frostflower And Thorn as never-read-before first-book-in-a-series this year...

message 114: by Anshita (new)

Anshita (_book_freak) | 267 comments I don't like reading a long series of books, so I'm going for a duology classic: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
