The Way of Muri by Ilya Boyashov has a cat on the cover! Plus, it's a quick and enjoyable read.

As I'm browsing my bookshelves, I'm beginning to think that a *real* challenge would be to read a book that does *not* have a cat on the cover! :-D
A great many of mystery writer Clea Simon's books have a cat on the cover. I'm going to read one of her Dulcie Schwartz mysteries which are slightly supernatural, but there's also a new series, first of which is The Ninth Life, which is much darker (not cozy) and also is narrated by the cat, which would tick two boxes for those who are looking to do that.(I'm not, since I'm looking to whittle down my TBR pile, but then again I'm mostly retired and kids grown up so I have more reading time than some.)
Going to read "A Man Called Ove" for this... It's been on my list and I just realized that there's a cat on the cover =)A Man Called Ove
I think this is one I'll leave open until I get to the library and then just start browsing for a delightfully random cat cover!
The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett is a great book I might re-read for this prompt :)
The Cat Megapack: 25 Frisky Feline Tales, Old and NewAll My Patients are Under the Bed: Memoirs of a Cat Doctor
If there is anyone interested in YA, you might want to check out Deadly Deception. I read this one in middle school and it is really good. I guess it would be classified as a thriller. While it's not an actual cat, it does have a cat paperweight on the cover.
I'm going to read a couple from the Feline Detective series by Mandy Morton - cats on the cover and I think they are told from the cat's pov so can count for the nonhuman character category too
The Silent Meow - Paul GallicoAll My Patients Are Under the Bed- Dr. Louis Camuti
The Cat & the Curmudgen, The Cat Who Came for Christmas, The Best Cat Ever, The Complete Cat - Cleveland Amory
The Sweet Cove Mystery series by J. A. Whiting is a cute cozy mystery series with at least 1 cat on every cover. Starts with The Sweet Dreams Bake Shop
I enjoyed Hunters Unlucky by Abigail Hilton. I listened to the [excellent] audiobook, and the paperback has "cats" on the cover.
The Cat in the Stacks series is a cozy mystery series about a Maine Coon owned by an older, widowed librarian at a small southern college. They all have a cat on the cover I believe. Looking for a good read and like fun characters, take a look at these.
Angela wrote: "For those who like biography, I've just finished Cleo It is rather sad, but a great book."I read and loved this years ago when I had a cat named Cleo. I am reading it again for a prompt in another reading challenge – read a book you picked because of the cover, or something like that.
Emily wrote: "Homer's Odyssey is really good NF. Loved it."I just reread that last year since I'm going to read the sequel to this year. Absolutely loved Homer!
One Rainy Day in May by Mark Z. Danielewski has tiny drawing of cat printed all over front cover.
And if you're double dipping it is also is a novel containing pictures! Or triple dipping, is a book with a month in the title.

"I totally missed this suggestion before! This book has been on my reading list for several years, and I needed a book for this category that I really wanted to read (as opposed to just reading one that fits the prompt). I never noticed the cat on the cover!
Juanita wrote: "Even though I didn't suggest it, I kind of feel this one was especially for me. I suggested it (and I'm glad you like it), and I was inspired by many interesting books with cats on the cover that was published past year. I love cats but this is category for books with cats on the cover, not only for books for cats.
I thought about Gilles Legardinier or
and ect...
I already read this so I am not counting it on my list of 40 but I want to suggest it to the group.Morte (e) by Robert Repino
It is so good!
I read this one last year, so I won't be able to use it, but perhaps someone else might be interestedDeath, the Devil, and the Goldfish by Andrew Buckley

Homer's Odyssey is a great, heart-melting book about a blind cat. Definitely worth a read!"You must read the sequel if you love this book even half as much as I did. It's short but still well worth the read.
The Dalai Lama's Cat by David Michie. This was a nice read to start the new year. Wonderful reminders about living in the moment and kindness.
A Mango Shaped Space by Wendy Mass! Has a cat on both covers, and is a YA/middle grade novel about a girl with synesthesia. Haven't read it since I was much younger, but loved it then and would definitely be a quick read!
I read The Familiars by Adam Jay Epstein. It was what I happened to be reading with my 4th and 5th grade children. It is Middle Grade Fantasy.
Funnily enough, I did choose it off the library shelf because of it's intriguing cover and tagline. It had unexpected details and developments. They really enjoyed the characters' diverse personalities. The ending caught them by surprise. It was a highly magical, entertaining read.
I do remember devouring many books in Lillian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who series. Such as The Cat Who Moved a Mountain It has been years since I read them, but I remember them as cozy mysteries- pretty quick, enjoyable reads.
I don't see a way to add photos to a post and that's really too bad. I finished one book and picked another challenge at random. It was "read a book with a cat on the cover." I have a rule for myself that if I have an unread book in my house that meets the challenge, I need to read that one before choosing something else. I'm doing the "beat the back list" reading challenge at the same time.
There was only one unread book in my house with a cat on the cover. It's "Sleeping With Cats" by marge piercy. While I was reading, my cat came over and fell asleep on top of the book I'd just finished (the graphic novel March), and she was using my reading journal as a pillow.
I would share the cute irony of a sleeping cat with her paws sticking out over the cover of marge piercy's book... but photos don't seem to be an option on here.
I think I'll check out The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury. Lions are cats, right? They didn't specify what type of cat.
Mindy wrote: "I think I'll check out The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury. Lions are cats, right? They didn't specify what type of cat."This is easily my favorite Bradbury book, and one of my top 5 favorite books of all time. I really hope you enjoy it!!
actually, I've noticed that some books have several different jackets with different pictures. Can one use a book whose physical cover doesn't have a cat if there is another version of the same book with a cat on the cover?Don't know what book with a cat I'll read for this challenge, but I can recommend Fifth Life of the Cat Woman., by K Dexter. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
It started slowly for me, but once the story got started I loved it!

Agh! I didn't know there was a sequel!
Reyna wrote: "I found this book in my TBR shelf.
"Good call! I forgot about this book, but it's on my TBR too. I'll probably choose this one.
