Sandra | 31485 comments David, you've added a comic & Volume 1 & Volume 2 works, which aren't combined into the original works.

So no sorry they don't get combined.

Sandra | 31485 comments Codex, I think you should reconsider.

lethe | 16359 comments And look at those "series" they are in... *sigh*

Hmm . . . I checked on each of the listed editions, and, except for this one (with no ISBN), confirmed via Amazon’s “look inside” that they were not comics, despite the word “illustrated” attached to the series and some covers.

If I’ve missed something, please identify the problem editions and I’ll separate them out again.

Adaptations, but not comics. Thus the confusion.

Still need separating, of course.

message 9: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 31485 comments Illustrated Classics was the series name - which shouldn't be a series, its just an imprint.

lethe | 16359 comments And the Greek series title translates to "Jules Verne Library". Collected works are not series either.

And while "Extraordinary Voyages" also includes only Jules Verne books, it doesn't sound like a series with a shared universe and/or characters in common.

lethe | 16359 comments Anybody up for adding the Greek "series" title to the edition field of the Greek editions? (Or should I post this in the Looking for a project thread?)

-- Oh dear, I see that series was only added a couple of days ago. I'll try and PM the librarian who did it.

ETA Message sent.

Moved the Greek series info to the edition field and deleted the Greek series.

ETA: done before I saw your last message

Have sent the librarian a message that it's already been resolved.

David Purdy | 257 comments Is there any reason that the book cover on the main entry for this book is one that uses Arabic script?

Arenda | 26447 comments David wrote: "Is there any reason that the book cover on the main entry for this book is one that uses Arabic script?"

Because that edition is shelved by the most users.
(That edition should have its title in Arabic, as it is on the cover. I can't fix that. ETA: found the Arabic title hidden in the librarian changelog from a long time ago and corrected the title to Arabic.

Also, the cover did not show on the book page until earlier today, as there was an error in the cover image, which I have corrected by oploading the same cover again.)
Apparently most users didn't care which edition they shelved, and couldn't see that it is actually an Arabic edition. It is not something librarians can fix.

There is also a Dutch series "Wonderreizen", created for the editions with the blue covers, like this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
I'll also add that info to the edition field and delete the series.
ETA: done

Maybe Wonderreizen is the Dutch equivalent of Voyages extraordinaires? See also https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/.... (Still don't think it's a series, though.)

Probably, although not all Dutch editions were in that series and I didn't check the numbering.
There were also editions with Jules Verne Wonderreizen in the title field, and a different numbering.

The series "Wonderreizen" specifically mentioned the blue covers in the series description. So definitely not a series according to GR.

David Purdy | 257 comments Now that the Arabic edition actually has an Arabic title rather than an English one, the dropdown menu that appears when typing "Michael Strogoff" into the search bar does not include a link to the book that the vast majority of users would be looking for.

message 21: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16359 comments That can't be helped. Welcome to the wonders of the GR search function :)

Hopefully now people can see the cover, they'll realize they added the wrong edition to their shelves (if they didn't mean to add the Arabic edition).
