Rachel | 4 comments If God didn't exist neither would I, nor you, nor the world, nor the universe. God is everywhere and created everything. He guides us to the light through the bible and we find a friend in him. If you mean, "What if I didn't believe in God, thereof he didn't exist in my mind" Well, that would not make a difference in his existence. The truth is the truth is the truth no matter what YOU believe.

Liselore I do believe there is some kind of bigger entity, but I do not believe in that entity in the form of any god that is put forward by religions. I understand that people believe in these manifestations so they can point their belief toward something understandable, so I definitely don't want to offend anyone.

Claire I agree. I don't believe personally believe in the Bible or the God it describes, but I believe there are so many aspects of life and reality that we aren't capable of understanding, so the possibility for a larger being is very real

I think saying "your" God would be a bit offensive to any Supreme Being, anyone who created all people wouldn't like to seem people in competition, especially over claiming "God". People think it's righteous, but it's actually demeaning. He becomes a property, a possession of yours, like a cross around your neck, but he's greater than that.

Instead of asking is my God the real God, we should be asking ourselves are we the real children of the real God, the one that created EVERYTHING.

Claire I think the whole 'your God' thing is really so people know which religion you are--the same as which version of God you believe in. It's something you can use to identify your beliefs. And I think that it doesn't necessarily make Him a possession, because based on most religions, we ARE the children of the real God, so saying 'my God' shows that you're actually His. I agree that no one can claim "God." But like I said I don't personally have any faith in any direction.

I agree with you to a degree, Claire. I think saying "your" God can be a simple way of identifying your beliefs. But I also think it becomes a problem when we compare Gods and say this one is right and this one is wrong. I think every religion can be a stepping stone to the one true God, but the more we compare them, the more we lose sight of the goal.
