Hi, I'm currently reading Trail of the Spellmans by Lisa Lutz. This is one of the funniest series I've ever read. Highly recommend them. I'm also listening to Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I'm almost finished with that one. I plan on listening to The Dog Who Knew Too Much by Spencer Quinn after I finish the other one.

I've finished Trail of the Spellmans and The Dog Who Knew Too Much. I started Crooked Kingdom and plan on starting One Plus One Equals Trouble during my lunch break. I have The Arctic Incident and Candy Apple Dead on my soon to read TBR.

Ransom is a talented writer. Great storytelling. I think some of my favorite things about his writing include his descriptions (picks the perfect words to paint a picture), mystery (keeps you wondering what will happen next), and it's funny (there are several parts in the book where I just crack up). I would definitely recommend reading it. I'll have more input when I'm done with the book. Thanks for asking.

I finished The Fifth Season by NK Jemison last night. I'm starting the second in the series. She's terrific.

I've read the first book in the Broken Kingdoms series by Jemison. I keep meaning to get back and finish that series. It's good to know that her newer series are good as well.

I'm reading Anger Meridian by Kaylie Jones. To be honest, it's one of the better books that I've read. I've heard it classified as literary fiction, but I've found it an easy read and very compelling. The writing definitely is a skilled in her craft.

Loved Anger Meridian. I concur on it being one of the better books out there. In fact, I'd say it's hard to find much better. Kaylie is a great writer. It's in her blood. She's the daughter of the late great author, James Jones, and one of my mentors when I was in creative writing school, I'm proud to say.

I'm currently reading Cosmos by Carl Sagan. This book is a mixture of science and philosophy, and it also provides us the biographical anecdotes about many well known scientists throughout history, placing their contributions into the broader context of the development of modern science.

James this was the second series I read when I started reading fantasy in my teens. (Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were first). I hope you enjoy Pawn of Prophecy.

James, I haven't read a single one of them either, except that I have the Miss Peregrine book and its sequel - have yet to read them. That's one reason I joined the group: to hear discussions about more wonderful books I may want to read. (As if I needed more!!) I am also looking forward to a group read, something I've never done.
One suggestion I might have for a group read is a Ken Follett book, or perhaps _Forever Amber_, but I am open to any number of book genres. My least favorite type is RO-mances, though I've been known to read a few.

A really fascinating book. Rice is such a dynamic person, and her deep love and appreciation for her parents and her family is all over the book.

I thought 13 reasons why was just okay. I think I gave it 3 stars. I thought the cassette tape structure was fresh and unique and the writing, very good. Where I lost it was on the victim's motivation. I couldn't relate to her reasons, although I was empathic, and that part of it made the book a little difficult to finish. Your turn.

I read several books at a time ... 8-10 usually. The main ones now are Deep South by Nevada Barr, The Hypnotist by Lars Kepler & Dracula by Bram Stoker. Really enjoying the one by Barr, not sure yet about the Kepler (my first by him) & love Stoker's Dracula. It's my 2nd reading of it.

I love mysteries, court room dramas, FBI profilers, Forensics, Private Eye, Detective from the cozy to the dark. I also love paranormal, vampire, werewolf types been reading Charlaine Harris, Patricia Briggs and Kim Harrison. I love chicklit, SyFy, classics, YA, children's and whatever trips my reading trigger in between. I dig series as well: JD Robb, Craig Johnson, Michael Connelly, Dana Stabenow and Stuart Woods I flip back and forth from plus several other authors.
